My father has a 1992 Fourwinns Liberator 201. It has the 351 in it and runs great. But when we are at WOT and you go to trim to boat up, it cuts out. When i say cuts out i mean the engine misses for a split second then when u let off the switch it goes back to normal. Now im wondering if this boat has points style distributer.... I would go look for myself but it is in storage the next town over and we wont have it out till the end of this month. Just curious i guess. Also i cleaned up all the battery cables and made sure they was clean. Still does it... Anyone got a manual or ever worked on these fourwinns boats?

engine grounds must be clean and tight, alternator ground must be good, i have run ground wires from the alt to engine to assure this, it should be a electronic ign, EFI or no???there was a problem with the resistor wire in the engin harness at one time, does it have 8 or more volts at the coil when running?ive jumped 12v to the coils to check this before, there was instansec of the connector being bad, broken ground pin connection, is the ground for the trim motor tight and clean? ive seen bad brushes in the trim motor cause this once, it is a voltage drop under load, that causes this, need to find the source, hope this helps some

That was pretty common on those, the trim pump main cables were hooked into the engine harness allowin a voltage drop to the ignition system.
You can hook the main cables from the trim pump straight to the battery to eliminate this problem, but a weak battery or alternator will still cause this problem.
Make sure ALL battery cable, alternator connections are tight.... as said before.
Load test the battery and check the alternator output.

Thanks everyone. Its a Carberated boat btw. Umm when we got it the guy had a 2400 watt stereo system with two subwoofers. We plan on taking one sub out, and turning the amp way down. It has three batteries in it to power them so one of those could be used to power the pump. The batterys are all newer, i will still take them out and get em load tested, along with the alt. Thanks guys for the help.
