My carpet is starting to mat down in high traffic areas. It is not stained, just matted down. Do you all have any advice on how to revive worn down carpet? Will my wifes carpet cleaner work to pull the sand and dirt out and bring it back to life?

If its like Rainbow carpet cleaner then yes it will do it the most good... BUT...! Do not use solvents or hot water as this will tend to loosen the glue that holds it down... Plain cold water works great but also understand carpet is twist woven and after a period of time it kinda unwinds and basicly wears out and will matt down easier and faster...

A pressure washer works great also, just avoid any open ends.

On my bassboat, I take her to the carwash...use the pressure sprayer and hose the carpet down. Don't get too close to the carpet, stay back about 2' with the wand. Get it all good and wet. I then take a big 32oz spray bottle and mix about 1tsp of Woolite Fabric Softener and a full bottle of water. Lightly mist on the carpet in small areas, work in with a soft bristle brush, then hose out. Do the entire carpet, then vacuum with a shop vac against the grain to get all the water out.
My carpet is two years old, the boat is used a lot, and it still looks as good as the new boats on the lot.;)
