I have a 97 promax 225 that has developed a misfire at idle and sometimes while running. I bought two used regulators for a person here on the board....still misfiring. I fish so I run two color gps/fishfinder units off the starting battery. I was told my battery was bad so I replaced it with a new one with 1000 ca.....voltmeter shows 13.7-14 volts while running. I noticed something strange yesterday...if I left all my electronics on while fishing then the engine would misfire...if I turned off everything but my fishfinder on the bow while fishing it ran great? I am stumped on this one. Could it be the stator? by the way I have the 40 amp charging system.....thanks guys for any help...cliff

1st :Might try seperating your fishing equiptment from your engines battery and see if some thing is creating a fequency that engine's ignition is having an issue with.
2nd :Make sure ALL grounds are clean and tight . Also remove the 7 pin key switch cables and take an ecto knife and seperate the splits in the male terminals so that they contact the female plug with more tention..
Good luck,
Jay

I would install rfi (Radio Frequency Interference) filters between the individual electronics items and the battery.
Tight grounds help, but there is a marginal interference situation, in all liklihood, from the electronics, fuddling up the engine electronics.
hope it helps
