I bought a 1992 merc 175 carb motor - 2.5L. It appears it may have a bent prop shaft. I have a dial indicator. How many thousands out is it allowed to be. If it is bent is this something a novice can do? Should I replace seals and bearings also? Where should I get parts? Do I need a manual? Where can I take it in Ohio (Akron/Canton area) if I'm not up to the task? Thanks. Smitty

you put the dial point just under the threads for the prop nut. the max according to the manual is 0.060. my sons shaft was at 50 and it been running ok for 2 yrs. shaft form 1988 to 1999 will work in that LU.

You mean away from the end of the shaft for the dial point. Correct? Thanks. Smitty
