I'm curious to know that also, but I personally would much rather have the S-Master even if I lost a couple mph... I don't know if it's an option, but I've heard high accolades about a S-Master with the Titus mods...

If you can find one at a reasonable price I would get a CLE and put a bobs' cone on it. I have one on my XB2002 and have run 100 GPS with good water pressure and easy driving. Other Allison owners have had good luck with this combination. On the other hand it could be easier to find a torqmaster, if so, then this case with Bobs' or Titus is a good option.

fastest case I have ran is a CLE with a Bobs cone, between the 2, I would put a cone on the torquemaster

bass and walleye did that test in the 2003-5 range. my copies are pack away. the sportmaster was not the fastest if memory serves me right. all teating was over the 90mph mark.

Bass & Walleye Boats has done more than one nosecone test over the years but the one you may be thinking about was March 2002 on page 40. The article before that one was a test of the then new Promax 225X on a Allison XB2003 bass boat. They reported that the stock sportmaster was hard to drive at speeds approching 98 MPH and they changed it out for a coned torque master and then proceeded to make a run with just the driver at 100 MPH on GPS.
In the nosecone article the stock sportmaster was slower than the stock 200 cases with cones :
TEST
Allison XB2003 with Merc 200XS
Prop --- Merc ET 14 1/2 X 30
J&J ( TITUS ) 93.4 MPH
Bob's 92.2 MPH
Merc Sportmaster 91.4 MPH
The article explains that the Bob's cone could have run faster if they knew that it was for an Allison ---- they put a different angle on the point of the cone.

Thats the ticket!! After that the torque master with the Titus mods! Even a 200 case with the same mods. Someone also mentioned a CLE. My XR would run about 105 with a CLE with a bob's cone and blow-out ring, and go left--HARD!!--We changed the cone about 10-times and never got it to run any faster. Put all the guts in a 200 case with a Bob's cone and blow-out ring and it ran 115+ Plus drove better. Damn shame of it is, you buy a sportmaster then have to pay another $650+ to make it run on a Allison!
