On set ups, what benefit would be realized by adding a 4" set back to my existing 10" Hyd. J/Plate. Always felt the boat was nose heavy, would this help ?
I realize one benefit is that the prop will have cleaner water to run in and the other is that the center of gravity is now moved back towards the transom.

Your input and opinions are welcome.............:)

What kind of boat?

Setting the engine back will rebalance the boat, you shouldn't need as much trim to carry the nose. Knowing what kind of boat and your setup now will help people give you better advice. Chuck
