We 45 drivers and boats might not get much attention here, but we made it locally and nationally. I have also been notified that I am in the top 5, maybe top 3, in the country. Two more FL races this month.
God Speed,

ps $500+ in tow and prize $$$$$$$$$

Dude thats awesome!

We looked in Saturdays paper while at breakfast in Lakeland and didn't see anything but I didn't have time to check the whole paper either.

$500. is incredible too   :D Good job and congrats!

Best I ever did was $75. for a second place and one other time I got a second and my buddy that won set a record and we both got T shirts!
And they were out of our size :p

The 45's are an awesome class. I was at the race way back when they introduced that motor.

Great job and good luck with the rest of your season.

David,

You got any links so we can see this? I know the Mayor of Lakeland was pissed there was no coverage in the Sunday edition of the paper on the race and that it would "get corrected" on the next day.

We would all like to see it.

Stay safe on the road.

Thanks,

Steve.

local newspaper coverage.

I shot pixs at a OPC race in my old home town back in the 80's. They ran Mod VP and SST 60.

I called the paper and told them I had 5 yrs in photography and racing and that I was in the pits laying on the start dock shooting pictures 10' from the boats while they were passing @ WFO. (one of my favorite shots of all time was from there)
Anyhow the sports editor assured me they had 2 or 3 photog's covering the event and thanked me for my time.

Sundays coverage?????? One picture of a 60 sitting at dock

In 9 yrs of racing I may have seen local coverage in 1/2 dozen papers.

In this country if it doesn't involve a ball or cars going in freagin circles (give me a freagin break already!) no one cares!

That was all I saw was the picture of the 45's.
The markrting and coverage sucked for all the the quality of boats and drivers.

Gary - Since Ohio is (or was) a unionized state, you were what is known as a "scab" photographer. If they had a photographer on the payroll anywhere nearby there is no way they would use your photos. Maybe if you had something they could make big money with. Like a spectacular crash or somebody dying.

Hardest working guy was Dean
What an awsome job he did with the tight conditions. It never would have turned out like it did if it wasn't for his effort.

Thanks Dean

This was the only pic I could find on the Ledger website. It is of Jose, Jr. winning one of the 45 heats. Is this the pic on the front page of the Sports section yesterday?

Thanks,

Steve.
