Hutch Hollywood - rare frame, but this one appears to have been repainted. I could be wrong, though. Check out the price. (http://cgi.ebay.com/HUTCH-HOLLYWOOD-NOS-BMX-UKIA-HUTCH-NECK-BARS-MORE_W0QQitemZ180218109429QQihZ008QQcategoryZ64644QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

Greg, i take it all back, you dont need help, (well, maybe a little :p ) but the two people in that crap certianly need to be committed, the first guy for actually bidding 1400 on that, and the second guy for not selling immediatly, hell, i'd be knocking on his door, frame in hand, before he got up from his computer....it takes all kinds....

That frame was repainted.
If it wasnt and was a perfect NOS it would probably be worth the asking price. Some of this stuff goes for SICK money.

Super Cheetah, I think that was a mid-late 70s bike?
Alittle before my time. I was 1981-1987

It is going on in other collector areas too, not sure what is up. I have seen insane money spent for old car amps the last month or so....you know 80s/early 90s car amps.

Have to say, I never met ANYONE that would ride that bike back in the day. I bet is a back room leftover that never sold. You could not give it to me, unless I could sell it in 5 seconds and make money off some idiot that wanted a Pink Panther replica BMX bike....just put a long fuzzy pink tail on the back because anyone on the street would have been laughing at you already. Back then we had words to describe it.

The Hutch Hollywood was highly sought after back then. It came in several colors, and the pink was (believe it or not) the most popular.

Are you sure about that?

lol! usually the guys making comments about the color of something like that are the ones who are least comfortable with their sexuality.

You bet your ass when pontiac produces the G8 in Morpheus Purple I'll have one.

Without a doubt. Pink and lavender were huge!

That was just a precursor to the 80s neons colors that over took jet skis/ PWC and Hair metal bands. :D

I have plenty of yellow shirts, how many do you have? It is not about me, it is about the treatment I would have to endure and possible damage to my equipment or self. That is the way it was around here, some big farm boy would think that bike was the biggest ***** ***** **** bike and the rider was too. Insert some words in there that are not appropriate to post. If I was going to suffer for BMX, it would be from torn up shins/etc injury not constant crap from other people about the girls bike I was riding. I liked my bare alum the best, paint is just extra weight. I am sure out in Cali it was cool, but not here. Back then people did get knuckle sandwiches for that kind of stuff, there was no such thing as PC. Neon and feminine are two different things. Here I thought this was a pretty nice place to grow up

Wow, building a show bike....something built for pure abuse and now for show. Would have been cool to have 3 piece that didn't break, we tried some and they didn't hold up. Nothing worse than blowing a crank, saw a guy puke one on a tv show doing massive jumps and took him a while to get up. I know that feeling.

Lol, I see it didn't take long for him to relist that barbie bike.

Are you saying you broke Redline Flight cranks? If that's what you're saying, then you are the very first person I have ever known to say that. In all of my life, my riding, my crashes, and everyone I have ever known - nobody has ever been able to break those cranks. The basic design has remained almost exactly the same too.

I don't remember the brands, or that much about it now. I know at least one had a titanium center and it broke too in one way or another. Most of them the shop gave us to try and they all broke, my friend was racing for them. We kept swapping them and finally said * it these are all junk and too dangerous to keep failing on us. The guy who owned the bike shop would just shake his head. We jumped all the time, though nothing as crazy as the guys on tv today of course. We ended up using...tahigi or takogi can't remember exactly, but one peice cranks and they were not breakable. They only weighed a little more. Broke a lot of necks too until we got good brand ones; I had redline neck and bars, they were great. I wrote it down but could not find my setup one day when I looked for it.

Back in the day their was some aluminum cranks built for racing that would bend if used for street or freestyle riding and I remember seeing a broken set of Aluminum race cranks (Sugino?) at Torque Center display case years ago. I myself have bent a few one piece and broken one set of Takagi one piece cranks (faulty casting). 3 piece flight cranks breaking… never heard of it.

Could be they are great cranks I would think so, but we were attached to our bikes and hardly a day went by were were not on them. So any part that was not up to daily riding was pretty useless and all the ones we tried were junk IMO. I have no recollection what brands he gave us or what the few we bought were that also broke. Two other of his riders used them with no problems, but did not street/trail ride like we did. We had no interest or funds to build up second bike of junk parts that might not break racing that in total weighed a pound or two less. Well I didn't race so I didn't care as much, be we were always looking for better components. My friend won every race he entered anyway, with his daily bike and one of those evil big tires on the front. lol. I could ride longer than him but he would beat me on a sprint. He was the best at elbowing people away from him also, you just could not knock him over but then...we got into cars. Too bad, years later he got a pretty bad injury that would screw him up forever. I mean he is mostly ok but will set off the metal detector at an airport nicely.

Takagi might have been it. Nice chromo and chrome plated. And we ran plain old spoked wheels back then with no problems, so we were not that rough on the bikes we knew how to land.

Flight cranks are are still awesome, though there are so many copycat products out there, mainly based on Profile's design. Myself, I do not like Profile cranks. The Flights are great - I may use a set on my GHP. The original hollow box crank, Flights still look amazing, almost 30 years after they were introduced. I have a new set here just waiting for a bike :)

Greg,

I've never been a fan of the 48-spline spindle and the whacky tool to remove and install the arms. If you have a problem with them at a race, you must have that tool and a hammer ready or you're screwed. At least Flights can be removed with common hex wrenches.

I can see where that would be a problem for a Racer. ;)
