Last night Mark Beck, brpdk945 (http://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/member.php?u=31188), died in a car accident. He was a distinguished member of the Baton Rough Police Department and an avid boater, having purchased and refurbished his Allison xb2002. Please share with me in sending prayers and thoughts to his family.

Thank you all for your sentiments. It has been a very difficult week. It has been very hard to accept this loss. Mark was a very meticulous person who valued safety which makes this accident more difficult to conceive. Yesterday he was laid to rest with full honors. The cities of Baton Rouge, Baker and Zachary Louisiana did themselves proud. The Baton Rouge Police Department as all of the law enforcement agencies who contributed were exceptional. I was proud to be a resident of this state and a fellow law enforcement officer. I have never seen such an outpouring of respect and admiration for an individual from so many. People and Fire departments lined the streets to pay tribute to this man - one of it's own. Mark will be sorely missed. This state, community lost an extreme advocate and for those who knew him a valued friend. I don't think Mark ever met anyone that he didn't consider a friend. He was so proud to have purchased his Allison and never dreamed on how quickly us "performance boaters" bonded, and he simply loved becoming part of such a group.
