Need info on this event! Going down just to get out of the snow, cold and would like to enjoy the event. No tourist traps but need to know where to hang out where there are things are going. Any help would be helpful!

When I was last down there a couple of years ago, last minute decision, the crowds were huge. We did not have a hotel reservation, my buddy knew of a parking lot about 3 blocks behind the cemetary, which is across from Boot Hill Saloon. We slept in the car, basically camping out, like many others. It was real convenient, did not have to drive to the main drag, which is not that long of a run. Got waisted and walked back to the car to crash whenever you wanted. It was cool and good camping weather, many people were in the parking lot with us. Had toilets setup in the lot for us to use. Its one option of your gonna go "last minute" and dont have hotel reservations.

bike week is huge, lots of things to see , lots of racing & trade shows- vendors at the track.i used to go every year for the last 4 days for at least 25 years  but got tired of too many drunks ,slow harley parades, people who cant ride & so crouded on the streets surounding daytona. it sux to be gridlocked in traffic on a motorcycle:mad: i'm a race fan , many day & night racing all week.night time at the strip(beach areas) will blow you away:eek:  take a camera.
if you go without hotel resivations you can scout the beach hotels & always get a room somewhere.( expensive).if youve never been ,you should experence it at least once:D ! a trip youll never forget fore sure:D

The first and only time that I have been there we stayed on the beach and only got to walk to main street one day. The weather sucked that day so we didnt venture too far. There is plenty to see just on main street even if you dont stop and just cruise through. I work around the Daytona often and know of all of the popular hang outs. It spreads out down to New Smyrna Beach to the south and up to Ormond Beach north of Daytona. Just follow the crowd and you find a good time. Its best if you plan on staying more than a day or 2, the weather can be crappy one day and beautiful the next this time of year, so if you have to hold up in a bar because of rain for a day usually the next day or 2 it clears out. We will be there the last 4 days and are staying up in Ormond Beach.

i belive this is where Rollin means, it's in ormond. the new harley store (largest in the country) is at the us1 exit, first exit coming into town going south on 95, will be a sight to see, they have food, beer, beer, beer, food, (the pig stand bbq resturant by the highway has blackeyed peas that taste so good it'll make ya wanna cry :D ) i went by last year in my semi and looked over at the parking (lots of car shows thru the year) area and it looked like a sea of chrome . down town on beach st. on the inland side of the ICW is a park for about a 1/4 mile or so, lots of custom displays in tents on the grass, pretty cool. at the north end of tha park is the main street bridge, the west end of main and it goes to the ocean, about 20 blocks of leather shops, bars, few resturants, mostly bars, ya gotta walk it, and if you are prone to fainting over seeing "moraly relaxed" behavor, may best not go :D out side of town on hwy 44 down south going west there is a a place called the cabbage patch, large camping area, bar and home of the " female cole slaw wrestling championships" we will be there on monday the 3rd at the track for the vintage races, then do the obligatory drive down main st. my buddy is a para-palegic and i'll be rideing along to give him a hand. i always like it at the beginning few days of the week cause the portalets don't smell like puke yet. ;) fun out

the iron horse is an instatution during bike week, dude i worked with at sea ray thru some a hole thru a plate glass window in the front once upon a time ;) be ready, there's everything from pricks to popes that week, and some of the worst pricks don't leave. lived there 6 yr. i seen every form of biker there is, as afore mentioned. Daytonas a tuff town, seems every lowlife deadbeat wants to make a "new life for themselves" in daytona, not to mention every runaway, ex-con, and pimp at one time does some time there. i married a highschool flame w/ job at hospital, couldn't fit in to the local crap. if you ain't from there, they got no need for ya there, except your money. love hate deal.

I've got no plans for BeekWeek , but I'm sure I'll end up over there atleast a couple of time . I ussualy do , seeing as it's just 30 min. from me . There are some ways around most of the traffic , but it still have to be patient .Rich Martin 018:D
Just get a room in Orlando. It's about a 25 minute drive and you pay $45 a night instead of $180. Drive into Daytona in the morning and drive back at night.. Save enough in hotel bills to pay for everything else.

he was using a "brumos porche" golf cart, w/some other distinguished fellows as company. herd stories later as he was "Kenny Roberts" level of fame late 60's early 70's. i just love the passion these dudes put into their sport. saw one sidecar rig and the dude says next year their supposed to run them, that is TOTAL INSANITY! i'm just startin to get some energy back. :D
