people claiming ridiculous top speeds in any vehicle is my biggest pet peeve. Does not matter if its a boat, PWC, motorcycle or car. I HATE IT!
It's no different than the guy on here awhile back with the 17 foot baja that claimed 60mph with a 115 on the transom. Meanwhile I have the same boat with a 150 crossflow that gets 63mph.... He claimed that he kept the hull waxed. I want to start some form of coalition against bull**** speed claims. I work at a honda motorcycle shop and have to sit here and listen to all the kids telling me that there cbr600 does 175mph. It's very tiring...

Yeah, people are pretty rediculous. I had a guy come by my shop the other day trailering a 21' Eliminator(I think. Some Cali boat w/steering on the wrong side). He had twin 2.5 mercs, not sure what hp. He started talking to me and told me the boat did 128. I thought OK, maybe he is really fast. When i asked him which props he turned, he told me 28"choppers. Even worse, when I asked him how many r's, he told me he only turns it 7100 and he could turn it more but didn't want to hurt the motors. I just kinda giggled to myself and walked away.

i see he edited the listing on size too.. when it was 1st listed i think it was listed as a 20ft...that boat might run 40 mph with a 125.. they are a heavy.. non pad bottom boat.. mine had a 200 evinrude on it, and would do good to run 55 on a good day....

Last summer I was filling up my boat at the gas pump and the employee said to me " How fast does it go?" I told him 80mph. Without missing a beat he said " 80mph, that's all? My buddy's 21' Checkmate does every bit of a hundred." I asked him what motor he was running, he said he had a (stock) 225 Mercury on it.

I thought to myself that's pretty amazing since I used to own a 21' Checkmate with a 200 Merc XRI set up a jack plate, nose cone and high end prop and the best I ever saw was 70, 71.

buddy of mine went out in the bay one day to a hang out and all these boys were claimin they were running 100 90's and 80's well they wanted to run but lil to ruff for him that day so he told them to come up to the rive the next day and we cleaned there clocks the one that was " runnin a 100" went by him at 80 clocked him at 74 and stopped he came up beside me and said what you running 120 i said no i was running 80 had he said there no way i should him the max on the gps and they never ever tlked **** since shows how much bull**** there tlking two didn't even have nose cones and one was running a mirage prop that said he was runnin 90's:confused:
