Mason sold the company about a year ago to 2 young guys that don't appear to have much experience.

Problems with Midnights? There are none. I have the last " original Midnight Express Inc -not the new Midnight Express Powerboats that was popped from the mold. I am currently completing the boat.

It is a 37 Sportdeck and was specifically made for me to complete with quads. It is laid up with mantex foam coring, divinycell foam coring and vinylester resin. I have chosen to complete the cuddy area in marine plywood in an attempt to keep the nose down. She is going to weigh about half of what the old Midnights and new weigh. Needless to say fast!
As a comaparison by buddy has an original 37 Ex-customs boat with quad new 300 optimaxes. He has it dialed in right and is running 85 and setting off rev limiter alarms!

Before anyone asks, the original Midnight was the 36 Cigarette with 9'6 beam that Aronow put out. The boat was splashed and Midnight was born.

Midnight was then purchased and eventually re-done by Tom Mason who raised the hull sides, lessened the dead rise and designed the integrated transom and of course made the changes to bring it to the new ages. Thus the new Midnight was born under a similar name, Midnight Express Powerboats.

He then sold the company and the origianl molds went elsewhere under there origainal name Midnight Express Boats Inc. They are no longer in production.........yet.

The Original Midnights and the new Midnights are with out any dispute one of the most offshore worthy boats anywhere ....period.

They were mostly used in the 80's and 90's as Smuggler boats. My Center console I sold had four fuel tanks 1,000 gallon capacity iniitially had quad 250's when I sold her she had triple 225 optis and would run in anything I would dare to take her out in. She weighed 12,500 and ran 60 mph in anything with the trips

The Midnghts are not known for speed due to their heavy lay up. You will see a 10 mph difference in boats claiming to be worthy to run next to a Midnight Offshore. They wont......trust me the old 37 Midnights and the new 39 were made for one thing to run offshore in nasty conditions.

US Customs-Homeland Security are using these boats everyday.

See some of my posts on this site and new picts of the "Last original Midnight" on offshore only.com.

Hope that helped;)

Edit does not rig boats anymore he has moved into the 21 century and does computerized machine work. He has a very large 5 axis gantry mill and is machining plugs and molds for marine and other industries. They have changed the name from edit to M-5 and also have a quite large water jet cutting machine and smaller 3 axis mill. Still located in the same location in Ft. Lauderdale Fl..

Greetings AirRide,

I have no affiliation with Midnight Express except that I own one. Ours is a 2008 37 Cabin "Pilot House" edition purchased new from the boys at the factory in Ft. Lauderdale that can be seen at www.davy.bz (http://www.davy.bz) and we're located on the Chesapeake Bay.

I am most interested to talk with current and prospective purchasers to swap experiences, trade rigging ideas and leran how to get our new Midnight to perform at its best.
