How does the Rich/Lean fuel knobs work like the one that Wayne Taylor sells for a stock ecu?

They plug into your air temp sensor harness. It kind of tricks the ecu into believing it's colder or warmer thus more or less fuel. If your interested in one I'll sell you mine ?!
