Will a Raker fit on a mercury?

Will a OMC wheel,ie raker work on a merc? I know merc wheels will work on OMC.I tried to put a raker on my 250merc and it didn't fit right.I tried various washer configurations that helped,but after tighting the prop nut,the wheel didn't turn freely.

There used to be kits available for this years back, but I haven't seen anyone offering them anymore. You need a thicker than normal thrust washer- and a very thin elastic stop nut and rear washer. When complete, you'll only be engaging about 3/8 inch of the splines- which looks scary but seems to hold together. I rigged the kit I have from the '80s to try Raker vs. Tempest Plus vs. Trophy Plus, with a 22 pitch Raker and the Merc props in 21 pitch. The Tempest was fastest by 1.5 mph, the Trophy Plus and the Raker were tied. Given this, I stayed with the Tempest. Maybe this is why the kits went off the market- the newer Merc props are simply a bit faster.
