I went out last weekend to watch the Orlando Winter Nationals and watch Foley lay the smack down RC style. I only got a chance to see him run in one class unfortunately, but did manage to take a few pics.

Saw Fun, Li'l Jon, Rich there as well, and I think it is safe to say we all got the bug. Fun and LJ left with new purchases, and I ahve been online foor a couple days trying to figure out exactly what I want to get into the sport. Still waiting on Stealth's STV, but might have to get a learner in the mean time.

Anyway, here are a few pics. Some of random boats and some at the end of one of foley's.

This was eerie even though it was just an RC boat.... seeing it start to get out of shape, lift, and then blow over way too real having seen this a few times in real life. Crazy how they are so much like the real thing; just a little easier to put back together.:)

Here is one of foley's boats. I am sure he can tell you more about it, but that thing was sweet. Just wish I could have stayed to watch his 90+mph twin engine boat, I heard it was wicked fast!!!

I noticed there were a few other folks that raced that chimed in from another thread. Lemme know what your boat looked like and I will see if I got a shot of it somewhere last weekend.

thanks guys, if you ever get a chance to check out one of these races, don't pass it up. Just leave the checkbook home unless you want to get addicted to another expensive sport that involves speed and props.:D

jeff, its big. I believe the guy who owns it is a member here is I understood another thread correctly, so I am sure he can give some better specifics when he ses the thread (hopefully). All I know is the motor looked like a superbad weedeater motor.

it's a gas zenoah motor fitted on an outboard drive system, note the recoil starter on top  somebody said something about 53" long??? the guy i met that owns the overtons boat is Mitch, i belive. he's a jax boy, i'll be running across him again soon i'm sure, the club here was "gator dodgers" and he said their trying to resurect it again, got a lake and a bunch of the bs out of the way already, i'm in, with gas what it is i see this as cheap "fun" :D

Fish you are correct the hull is 53 inches long and the motor is a Zenoah 260 Modified by a friend in Atlanta. the lower unit is designed by a guy in austraila. We have only run the boat about 4 time but it gets better each run.

Mr Fun where are you looking at running your boats we have been running with the guys over off Wilson seem to be a good bunch of fellows mostly gas guys we have a few nitro tunnel we run also. Oh by the way I am Mitch's Brother but don't tell any one LOL.

my brother was in the gator dodgers many moons ago. i bought my 1st hull at this race, no power yet. a cracker box. i'm stickin to stuff can relate to, been a calfornia hot boat fan my whole life, was most impressed by the speed skiffs, thats what i went to see. i have Terry Frahs's real mold and plan to build um, but not till i can do it right ;) so maby we can do some scales in the meantime. fun out

the motor is a Zenoah 260 Modified by a friend in Atlanta.

Would that be a HUFF motor? Pat Mulvany down in Orlando also has a gas tunnel, as well as Norman Morton in Atlanta and a buddy of mine Barry down in south GA.

Gas Tunnel is a class in our Grand Prix series here in District 13.. you should come up to GA and run with em :)

Pardon me for asking but when these things blow over what does it do to the engine???? same as the big boys or are they more forgiving??

Hey props me and Mitch are there I spoke with Rick Bearden the other night. Norman did a little talking to my motor for me and yes if every body shows up there should be 5 or 6 of the gas tunnels running. We will probably have to split the heats because me and Norman was talking and we are not sure if Kens pond is going to be big enough to run all six at one time. Trucks these motors are a little more forgiving I think you get them back to the bank and pull the Glow plug in the nitro motors and spark plug of course in the gas motors blow them out good reinsert plugs and go racing again. The gas motor are alittle more deleget from what I hear you do not want them running wide open when they go over/under water.

Cool. I unfortunately am not gonna be able to make it down to the sowega GP race this month, but cant wait to see the tunnels mixin it up.

You definetely dont want the gas motors swallowing any water at full throttle. The cranks in these motors arent the strongest, and twist real quick as they dont like having the piston try compressing water. You learn to be real quick on the throttle trigger when the boat is going over.
