The word is it will be built in Australia and a freind of mine who works at the Holden Melbourne plant tells me that they are already eveluating the prototypes at the proving ground. Dont you guys worry about the Camaro being able to kick some ford ass either, our HSV holdens with chev gen engines will smoke any hot factory ford hands down....

If it has the underpinnings of a CTS Then indeed it is a muscle car and anyone looking to own one should be proud that GM has the brilliance to couple their Awesome Powertrains to one of their best developed chasses. Muscle car art work that combo is! Simply Awesome.

I spent the week in Atlanta with this, A 2007 impala SS. I was pretty impressed with it over all. While it would not outrun my mustang it was Very close and a much much better daily driver. Upstream’s Trail Blazer SS is pretty brutal for a truck. GM has some wonderful high perf packages coming out of the factory, I only wish ford would wake up and deliver something with flavor and excitement outside of a Mustang.

They will build it, and begin selling in the first quarter of 2009, as a 2010 model. About one year away.

I don't think there is room in the market for a Mustang, a Camaro, and a Challenger, unless they have learned how to be profitable at niche volume.

Camaro will bail first. Why? They'll want atleast 10 grand more for it then a mustang, just like before. They'll sit around wondering why it doesn't sell, then just pull the plug. Plus the new challenger is just sexy, and actually does remind me of the old muscle. HMMMMMMM

At least Chrysler and Ford copied an earlier muscle car look. It looks totally different than the Camero prototypes from several years ago. GM is slow in making it available and now they suck as far as copying the original look of any cars previous. Looks like a Ford/ Chrysler mix and nothing like a Camero. The Vette is the car for GM right now for performance. This is pathetic. AND its been years behind the other 2 in actually even being available. I am a GM guy diehard. This is a waste of their time and money. Tell them to send Mercury or OMC their Camero budget and they will not only make more profit margin, but have happy racing customers AND AND AND w/o a freaking warranty. No brainer investment!!!;)

I imagine the car sites are already calling it "soul-less" as it was applied to the current Mustang when it came out. Much like the Mustang, it seems to pull favored styling cues from across the model years.

I would most definetly consider its brother the CTS-V a muscle car. The 2009 reviled at the auto show has a turbo charged 6.2 liter putting out 550hp and 550 lb-ft of torque. That and the new Viper killing ZR-1 will be my new rides.:D:D:D

Well at least it does'nt look like a stretched out Beretta like the last Camaro's. Pontiac at least screwed enough plastic on to make them look decent. Maybe they can do the same again. This thing shares so many lines with the Charger and Mopar 300's it's silly.

YOU guys are insane!! Yes it doesn't look like the 69, like it was supposed to, but you know it is gonna have the vette engine and SMOKE the Mustangs!!! Chevy is like a LARGE ship, it takes a while to move and make a change. GM failed with the GTO, but I think this one will sell. I will buy one if the price and performance is right! I owned 2 69s and loved them, but thanks to Barrett Jackson, everyone thinks they have gold, so they are almost untouchable to the normal folk. We will see what happens when it is released.

How do you guy's think this will do against the camaro? 425 horsepower hemi, 0 to 60 in 5 sec. supposedly.:cool: I think it looks more retro than mustangs and camaros. SRT8 $40,095

GW 1250, the CTS-V has a SUPERCHARGED Vette motor, not turbo. I have liked this car since it was released and it is a BEAST!!! THe Caddy race cars are AWESOME looking, would love to put a body kit on one.

These are being built in Oshawa, Canada? They were refabing the #2 plant at a cost of 2.5 billion (450 million from CDN gov't.). It's supposed to produce other rear wheel vehicles also....like Cadillacs. They say they will stay true to their roots and make it affordable to a broad spectum of people.....and hope to sell 100,000 and be slightly lower than the Mustang. Reported prices were appx. $35k for a loaded V8. I assume that is U.S.

I have a freind that is a machinist at that plant and he told me there are a couple already there. He said they were handbuilt models and are seriously sick.


The white is too BLAH. But imagine Orange or blue w/ white stripe.:) I'll keep dreaming.

Just when I think i can't hate on this thing anymore, I see more of it lol Whats wit hthe covers getting bigger and bigger on these new motors? I want to see stuff, noy some cheesy cover. The guages look like something out of a late 80's cavalier or Chrysler Lebaron and this is a prototype and already has low brake fluid :D If this car becomes a huge hit, it will shock me.

At first I thought it was the new Challenger, until I got closer. I attempted to use my camera phone, and narrowly missed side swiping it.

They pulled into an office complex to turn around, I decided to follow, and in the process got the horn/middle finger combo from the guy behind me. :oops: I had to talk my way past the security guard to get in, but it seemed to work. The drivers allowed me to take pictures as long as I didn’t take any of the interior. They also would not talk about the motor, but said I will not be disappointed.

The car has a very aggressive look to it, and it was rolling on 20 inch rollers.(275 rear 245 front) The brakes looked a dwarfed behind the wheels. I don’t know if that was because of a smaller wheel on the v6 or if big brakes are an upgrade.

My memory card got full when taking the front nose pic. It had the z06 scoop on the hood. Use your imagination on this one.

The engineers told me they had shipped the car down here from Detroit to test it out in the humid weather we have here. The passenger had a laptop with some type of monitoring software.

I wanted to talk to them more about the car, but the security guard was yelling at me for blocking traffic. He seemed pretty upset for a guy making $9 an hour.

The car sounded good as they throttled it out of the parking lot!

I don't know, as much as I LOVE the GMs (had a couple SSs as well as Ram Air TAs) I think this new one is a little "over done" and kinda boy racerish. I think the Challenger is MUCH sexier and retro. BUT HEY my favorite thing I saw in those pics was the reciever hitch on that black Camaro. They gonna put a 5K # tow rating on it aint they? Yeah right we can dream on.

If $4 gas becomes a lasting reality and ALL of these "retro hotrods" will be but a faded memory because Detroit won't sell enough to worry with them. They'll be to busy crammin Al Gore approved econoboxes and greeniewagons down our throats!!!

Hell this thing probably gets every bit of 25 mpg on the hwy, why have a crappy sub compact POS that only gets 5-10 mpg more? I still think it's fugly though :D
