I carved the dummy motor with a razor knife In about an hour and built the hull from scratch with wood. I gathered several bottom pics(Thanks to Anothony ss/ stvowner.com) and what I knew from my previous STVs. Then built the bulkheads and skinned to make the hull/prototype/test hull/plug.

First hull from the mold joined. Bottom hull Is wet sanded, that's why It looks dull...
This hull Is a heavy lay up at 2lbs.

your 'heavy' layup is about the same as some of my .21 tunnels, around 2 lbs. my ts2 is 2lbs 2 oz bare hull & cowl. you're right on target, imho. still patiently waiting;) ..........

Are you gonna offer these up forsale, or you only doing them for yourself? I'll have to build me up another nitro outboard boat again if you are gonna be offering them.

Stealth Assassin
03-05-2008, 01:47 PM
Yes, I will be making them to sell. I am pretty slow about making them because of so much work going on right now. Still stumped about a price... That's why I was thinking of letting the first few go on auction like ebay.

Thanks,
Derrick

derrick, the only drawback i see to your ebay idea, is that a lot of "splashes"/cheap chinese imitations show up there as unfinished hulls. people not familiar with your project may just lump it in with those, in their minds. just not sure it would bring the kind of response it deserves. just a thought........

Here's my Idea... I have several threads going on this boat at several sites and several e-mails to reply to. I can post the link to sell on every post and every e-mail.

I kinda want to auction a hull or two.. But, on the other hand, I can't stand those sneaky orientals that like to copy....

I'm a fan of electrics so a sub hatch would be taped to the deck but, I can make a simple glass or wood box.

stvhelm

just curious I have a prather 32" racing tunnel. Will the radio box fit in that hull from my prather what are the dimensions of the opening including depth? like to put my 7.5k&b on there.

Stealth Assassin
03-08-2008, 02:45 PM
That 7.5 might be a tad big for the 25" version. The hatch opening Is 14"x3". A radio box can be glued together and coated In epoxy and your done. ;)

I have a 40" I am working on also that the 7.5 would work on.

moparbarn
03-08-2008, 02:50 PM
there are a lot of ready made boxes that would fit that hole. ts2 comes to mind........

Stealth Assassin
03-08-2008, 04:53 PM
I just layed up a white bottom hull and a yellow deck. My gel coat supplier jacked me around on getting my order since they are moving...

a ts2 box would drop right in - 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 8" ;) . you can buy them from aquacraft.

greg, he was referring to selling 1 or 2 on ebay, to establish a value. then seeing if the price would support building for profit. not running a business thru links........ the little bit i do know derrick, i believe he would do things the 'right' way, if the response warranted setting this up as a business, imho.

Ouch... Public humiliation.:o I just not to long ago let my membership expire. I have sold and bought a few boats here, also sold alot of good parts(my own personal parts)
I have not sold one of these hulls yet by choice. I was stating that If I did, I was thinking about selling one of the first on ebay to get a ballpark on a hull cost.

Greg, If that's what It takes to post my hulls here then I would be building these for free to cover the vendor fee. I make these on the side which Is not much at all.

I have been working at this for a few years now a little at a time and I have only stacked up a total of three hulls. I have spent many of coin just to get here. I lost a few grand with a cad guy and no good results came from that Hell, I even lost the specs/measurements we took on that deal... Total material cost so far have been ridiculous. I then started from scratch again with nothing but a few pics to build by eye(allready sold my last two full size STVs).

My point Is In all reality It would take alot of sales to even think about a profit. This Is not and will not be a mass production project. I started this project because I like to build only a certian few hulls that strike my Interest NOT, for the money... Because there really Is none.

Robin (moparbarn) Thanks for the comment.
