I've done both. Neither feel worth a damn when ya crash. I'm gonna knock the cob webs off the ol YZ450f and ride the national hare scramble coming here.

It's going to be hard to watch SX this year.. I'm not a fan of Stewart, and he's just so much faster than everybody else -- results of the first race notwithstanding. It's just like last year except Reed gets promoted to 2nd since Carmichael retired. I was really hoping that the other little squirt (Villopoto) would move up to 450 so there'd maybe be something interesting to watch.

I know. It sucks. There is always one dominate big bike rider but an awsome youngster lurking. Then when the youngster finally comes to play with the big boys the dominator retires. I seems like it went Stanton/McGrath McGrath/RC RC/Bubba. Now Bubba/???? I cant wait to have at least three of them battleing every race. Might be a while.

Only ball sport is college football and now its over. March is right around the corner and the Superbikes will be starting again. Last year came down to the last laps of the last race(Spies vs Maladin). Can't get any better racing than that.

I'd like it to get better.... I'd like somebody riding something other than a Suzuki to show up once in a while. I am curious to see how Tommy Hayden (he looks kinda like Herman Munster, doesn't he?) does now that he's healthy -- that 3rd Suzuki was finishing way too far behing the others. Also, the Yamaha's should be a bit better this year. Apparently they're getting some help from the WSB team.. Now all they need to do is replace Jason DiSalvo..

Phoenix--It didn't take long for it to turn into the Bubba Stewart show again. Reed showed some good speed but its still 2nd place speed. Looks like the 250F's West may turn out to be the closest racing to watch.
Can't wait till they race here in Atl. I havn't missed a race here in person since the early 80's. We always go early in the day and watch practice and qualifying. These guys are at such a high level its hard yo comprehend. Take the guy that finishes last in a 450 main event. He looks slow out on the track with the factory boys, but put him on a local track and he would smoke everyone.
I can't believe Nathan Ramsey is doing as well as he is.

Maybe the best thing will be to have Stewart miss three races -- then try to catch up. I agree the racing is better without him, but somehow it seems sorta like watching minor league racing with both Stewart and Carmichael missing..

did you see that one on last week? cant remeber where it was, but just rain and mud! the riders in the mx1 class (450's) didnt even ride, the promoter put up all the prize money to put on a show for the fans that stayed and there were only 6 riders racing for the $$$$$.

On the race from last Saturday the announcer said Stewart was out for the Supercross season. Sure do like to watch him ride but it is a boring race with Reed the only one that can run with him...then Stewart always pulls away as the race goes on. Now its about the same, and no one can hang with Reed an entire race. I think Milsaps, Vilipoto and some of the other guys are a year or so away. Stewart is still mighty young and should win a ton of championships if he doesn't end up being injury prone. I don't think that will be the case though. He will probably be back by the time the outdoor series starts and he will rule for five to eight years. Just my thoughts...

A little off the subject, but is there any competing event for the two stroke cr 500 Honda? I have a 92 model that I am considering putting on ebay my wife says I have too many toys and she's right for once.

Freddie try this site. They have all types of vintage motorcycle racing. Vintage Motocross event coming up in February in Arizona. They have classes for different age bikes, not sure about the 92 Honda. I do know that is a favored bike by a lot of dirt bikers.

well, looks like 08 supercross season will most likely have chad reed as overall winner, very good season so far. having ricky c. & bubba stewart out has let other talent show .also with joe gibbs involved in supercross, it's now more mainstream than ever, good for the sport:D

Yea, I agree it might make for closer racing, but you still get the feeling that it's almost like minor-league racing now. Reed is certainly the fastest guy and last year all that was good for was third. The best rider (probably) is in the support class. I'd almost bet that Villipoto will be the fastest guy during the outdoor season despite being on a smaller bike. I'll always be a fan, but motorcycle racing in America (dirt track excepted) isn't very interesting right now. You can -- with reasonable certainly -- pick who all the AMA champions will be in the premier classes before the season even gets going.

they need to bring back the 125cc 2 strokes!!!! there is nothing like the sound those factory bikes make when you have someone on the pipe going up a hill!! braaaap!

I'm not sure who's going to win and to be honest I'm not really following it that close. I do know that I'm having a blast again after taking almost 10 years off and if it wasn't for this extra 20lbs I'm having to carry I'd be back on a 125 instead of this 250f.

i have an extra 30 lbs this year, i have a 250 two stroke and a 125. it feels like the 125 can turn faster laps for me, but the 250 feels safer:eek:

cant wait for some dry weeks so the tracks can get preped and ready to rip!

Casey
04-11-2008, 01:37 PM
I'm the exact opposite. back when i raced both 125's and 250's i always felt safer on the 125 because i could just keep it pinned as much as my skill would allow, the 250 always seemed to get into trouble and believe me i have the scars and screws to prove it.

i must say these 250f's really impress the hell out of me. they don't have as much power as a 250 2-stroke, but way more then a 125, especially down low. I've ridden a few 450's and they can keep that ****.

i have ridden both 250f's and 450's, i like the 250f over the 450 also. 450 is just insainly fast. and it takes out the shifting aspect of riding. alot of tracks you can just stick the 450 in 3rd and ride the whole track. 250f's are fun, 250 2stroke are nice for the extra power. but i still say, there is nothing like riding the 125 bikes. the sound is sweet music!.

even RC, when he rode in some of the supercross opening cerimonies, rode the mod bike he has. the 450 aluminum frame with a 250 2 stroke motor in it. ivan tedesco even rides on RC's track and ricky gets out there with the 250 2 stroke and helps him out. ivan says its way odd hearing the 2 stroke chasing him down!!

Might be interesting, but you've proven my point. Both of those guys are pretty fast, but where have they been for the past few years? They were always 4-10.. They'll do better now not because they've gotten faster -- or they're a new generation of "fast guys". They move up because they guys that always beat them are either hurt or retired. The racing might be good in the same way you enjoy a minor league baseball game.. It might be competitive, but you know you aren't seeing the best.

i agree 100%. good racing, but not the best in the world. i would think stewart will be back for 08 motocross, reed doesnt race motocross anymore. so if stewart doesnt get hurt, he will get the #1 plate, followed by a mob of guys having a war on the track for 2nd place.

langston, alessy, windham, ferry, etc etc..... but should be fun if stewart gets hurt, then it seems everyone else turns it up because they know its a possiblity to win some overalls.

supercross is getting good. looks like 3 races left, reed got hurt last week and windham is getting close, i think 17 points back. i would think if reed can get top 10 in the last 3 races he should be able to get the championship since windham isnt getting an 1st place finishes lately. seems he is stuck in 3rd-5th place area.

also in 2 weeks we have lawrence and dungey going for the lites championship in seattle wa! should be good
