Hello All-
So we are in the process of trying to find a fun lake to take a vacation this summer (July/August). I have a few boats comming with me from South West Florida and about 10 boats comming from Minnesota (Twin Cities). Seeing that we are on opposite end of the US the lake needs to be in the middle of the country. Here are the lakes in which we have thought about (In no particluar order):
1) Lake Cumberland
2) Dale Hallow
3) Lake Lanier
4) Lake Kentucky
We are looking for a place that is a lot of fun for all (Ages of the group range from 24 to 55 yrs old). We could either rent hotel/condo or a house boat/s. Would like an area with some local bars, good food and great boating! Boat lengths for the group range from 27ft to 40ft so the lake needs to have a good boat ramp for the bigger boats.
Thanks for the advice!

If these are light boats its just my opinion but I think especially in the summer busy boating season find ya a good river in geogia, SC, or NC
during the week days when everyone is at work you`ll be able to find some really nice running water and the houses and law enforcement will be more spread out. The boys on hear will keep ya out of trouble. Besides there is nothing more fun to me than a ten boat posey ride down a meandering river
sorta like the harley thing and most folks, if none of the rider gets, crazy like to see the boats and just how much money an obsest man will spend to make himself fill good.

I know it's a long drive...... Have you considered the fingerlakes in NY? Not only are there many lakes in the region but there are numerous wineries nestled between all of them.....

Lake Wallenpaupack in the Poconos(PA), or Lake Candlewood in CT were close to home growing up, if ya end up in the Northeast, Maybe I'll follow you up, and visit home for a bit.

For boats of that size, Cumberland would be a great choice - lots of room to run and lots of other big poker-style boats. Beautiful water.

1465 miles north. Town of Fair Haven. State camping, cabins, summer homes for rent, hotels nearby. Lake Ontario boating to Oswego, Rochester, Canada, etc. River running close. Party bunch of boaters raft almost everyday. For sure on weekends. Great launches, bars, people. If you come the last weekend of July, Grucci fireworks for harborfest. A HUGE 4 day party in Oswego, NY.

If you guys want to meet in "the middle" you need to look somewhere along the coast. NC and SC both have some great islands offshore that would be great to run to. And both still have a ton of coastal and inland waterways to run. With those boats you need to forget the lakes and look to the coast.

Greenville, Ms at Lake Ferguson, Have two casino's next to ramp, fuel at the dock, nice hotel belongs to one of casino's on the same street that the bars are at, and just around the corner, The original Doe's Eat Place.
Lake is very deep w/sand bars in the summer and access to Mississippi river only 4.5 miles from ramp. All except Doe's is about a half mile from ramp. Really big levee front for parking those long trailers. During the week, you will have the lake all to your self.

Watch the water levels of the Ga lakes, they are all really low right now and if we don't get any rain this winter it will be really low this spring.
