Have been absent from boat scene for a few years and need history update. Have been shopping for a used STV and questions arise. Am aware of (spelling) Roark Summerford developing STV, etc. Did he sell rights and molds to the current Triad STV company in Modoc, Georgia? When did this happen? Have been encountering several take-offs and was wondering about a take-off made in north Florida out of supposed genuine STV molds? Are these Summerford STV hull designs from the early 90's? Does Summerford hold rights to molds yet and are hulls being built with his blessing? A knowledgeable explanation would be appreciated.

Should find several of your answers over here, including some STV history.

Roark sold the molds in late 1995 to some guys that had a go at building the boats till about 1998-9, after that Mr. Wally Lamkin bought the molds for STV (and the only legal molds). Mr. Wally has both the SKI and Mod-vp molds, the river rocket, euro, and mod-vp decks. The drag bottom and pro comp ski deck molds went to a fellow in Canada.
The other molds are not real, they are copys.
Mr. Wally builds the premier boat for the go-fast crowd, if you want the best get a triad built STV, next to that it a Roark built STV and then a Mississippi STV.
The fakes have little or no value on the resale market, as you get what you pay for.
Mr. Wally boat is worth every penny.
Good luck.
