cool , now they just need to throw a turbo on it . the turbo really wakes the hayacusa motor up

going to need set up work and an AIR BOX to keep water out!! think about the potental..the old 2 liter hydros would have there work cut out because of the lack of weight??? and seem more conducive to this motor.......nothing wrong with a 14000 red line..but can it hold it???

The drive system setup seemed very ineffiecent to me; as it was throwing water up in a roostertail instead of back and low for forward propullsion. Maybe they just need to mount the block on top of a 15 inch mid. I read in one of the motorcycle mags where a turbo powered Hyubusa won the Brute Horsepower Shootout at Daytona last year, pushing over 600 horsepower.

So much for the all the guys that say that ones of these motors that make all their torque on the high end could never even get a boat up on plane. I agree that it's got along way to go but it's a start, it also seems to be a fair size boat.

Wow, looked like about 40mph to me.

they're looking to get about 70-75 with some setup if they get it that's not bad for an 80cu-in motor on a boat that's about 18ft with no pad.

Sorry I do not get it. They are shooting for 70-75 mph? 1.3 liter (80 CI) You can get the same speed with a small outboard 120hp of about the same cubic inch on a 18' light small v hull like the hull the test boat was running. Those high revving four strokes can make some serious power but in a boat you need to maintain those rpms for a long time. Two strokes can run a long time at wot. 11000 rpm engines may go boom.

it wasnt even hooking up, the prop was slipping and revving to the moon  people like you that are too dumb to understand how sh1t works arent allowed to have an opinion. even a 35 year old tech piston port 2.0L merc would flat stomp that abortion.

if they decide to turbo it, they MIGHT have something.

Looks like one of those 4 stroke mud motors used for duck hunting and sounds like a raped Civic.

ran the same speed as one too. :D

or better yet Kevin, throw the garbage away thats designed for a normally aspirated street application, and run a real boosted 4 stroke thats made for a marine environment. oh thats right, merc designed that, it must be junk

I never said that it was running all that amazingly. It's just kinda interesting to see somebody try something different if it works it works if not oh well. And as for your remark about a 2.0 beating it i hope that it would seeing how in every sport that 2and4 strokes run together the 4 strokes are roughly twice the displacment. And you can keep yuor ignorant remarks to yourself as we can't all be as smart as you 1bad.

A 'Busa motor will hold redline for a long time with no problems. But, with an open exhaust and no airbox they are costing themselves about 30hp. With propper set up I would think it could hold its own against outboards with similar hp.

think what a lot of poeple on this board fail to realize w/ topics like this is that the people aren't on here to say they are making something to kick everything that's already out there's butt, they are just trying to experiment and play w/ something new. If u watch the video it tells u speed wasn't an issue they were just testing the motor. Obviously it isn't a finished product. I think it is great that people try alternative engines and things b/c u never know what might make a good setup. Anyone can go buy an outboard and slap it on a boat but that is only so much fun.....there is a lot more satisfaction if u make something yourself(especially if it works). I think this slapped on a midsection and ally or light tunnel w/ a transmission hooked to it would make the best results :p

a total waste of a perfectly good motorcycle engine to me
