Before you install air please read this from the APBA.org web site. Read carefully and between the lines. Do we have a problem here?

Notice To All Racers With Onboard Air Systems

Submitted By: Brian Small, Co-Chairman
APBA National Rescue Sub-Committee

While attending the APBA national meeting in Seattle this past winter, many
items were brought to the attention of the National Safety & Rescue
Committee. One of the items was the problem of getting air cylinders
refilled for use with onboard air systems.

After many weeks of dealing with three of the country's largest SCUBA
certification organizations, and more importantly, their legal and insurance
representatives, we have come to the following solutions to assist you.

For several years now, many shops have been filling cylinders for carpenters
to run air nail guns, as well as paint ball enthusiasts that use the air to
refill their guns. This has been allowed by many shops nationwide by
utilizing a Liability Release Agreement. The agreement certifies to the dive
shop that the compressed air obtained from their shop shall be used solely
for purposes of charging pneumatic devises other than SCUBA.

You will find a link on the "Forms Page" of the APBA Website, which will take you to a copy of the
Liability Release form and allow you to print it at home. Keep in mind that
there is no guarantee that all SCUBA shops will accept this release. My
suggestion is that you become familiar with the shops in your area, build a
relationship with the owner, and go from there. Part of your job is to
educate the shop as to how you will be using the air.

The National Rescue Sub-Committee, as it has for many years, recommends SCUBA
certification for all restrained drivers, and especially for those with
onboard air systems.

A special thank you is extended to Ed Burke, owner of Aqua Ventures Dive
Center located in Hudson, NH. Ed is a certified PADI Instructor as well as a
Public Safety Dive Instructor. Many of the instructors working out of
Ed's store are members of the APBA Rescue Team covering regions 1, 2, & 3,
and two are members of the National Rescue Sub-Committee.
