I think the majority of us Hydrostream owners here on the board are members of the Hydrostream registry. Check it out and join if you haven't already. Tons of Members Pics, Specs and info on every Hydrostream Model and lots of restoration articles. Mark Casper has done a tremendous job on his site!

Ron,
WOW, what a photo. Gorgeous country up there. I have never been.

I noticed you have the same boat awning that I just bought. How has it held up? Any complaints or suggestions? I have the structure up, I am waiting for Merky to get back and help me put the tarp portion on it. I plan to set the legs in concrete as my side yard is standard issue Arizona hard packed sand.

Thanks,
Marc

Not much on boat that you can't fish out of and know nothing about these but I know a lot of ya'll like your HydoStreams so I stopped and looked at one for sale.

If anyone is interested, The boat was a tunnel hull, serial number started with the letters HST, if that means anything, and it had a 200 BlackMax motor. No nothing about the rig, it was on a tandom axle trailer and motor had a nose cone and was mounted on a jack plate. I tired to ask a lady there about the boat and the only thing she knew was the seller was asking $6,500

This boat was in Dublin GA, if anyone is interested I can see if I can come up with a point of contact for you.

I am currrently in Tennessee and do not have any pictures of my personal boats with me. If your interested in what I use for personal use here is a list.

1997 AE 202 w/2.5 260, this boat was featured in an article in Hot Boat with a 3.0 225 efi Merc. John Spaith and I built it when we were trying to get X-Stream going. There are some pics of it on IHSR.

1982 original Viking with a 235 cross flow mod-vp. The engine was built in OMC R&D by Ric McChesney, it puts out about 260 hp but needs to be rebuilt regularly.

Mini VooDoo with a Johnson 70.

As my wife and I live on a island we also have

13' Gregor Alum w/15 Johnson
14' Valco Alum w/25 Merc
2001 Manitou Pontoon w/130 Honda
a canoe, a peddle boat and a work boat

My wife will gladly tell you I had to get in the boat business to give me a reason to own all these boats????

In Tennessee we are currently testing a Virage stage 3 w/99 Pro Max 225

Jim,

Have you talked to Mark Soliman?? He is running a '91 Turbo stage 3 with a 2000 225 P/M. He's in the IHR's 100 mph club. 100 mph on GPS with a 14 1/2" X 32 Merc Cleaver. What are you getting??

Mark's played with all kinds of L/U's, set-backs, and heights. May save you some head scratching.

Helmut (STVHELM) and Mark have helped me alot in my set-up.

I was stuck at 101 mph (on GPS) with my CLE. I'm now running a SportMaster and 14 1/2" X 32" Mazco Cleaver. Hoping to see 105 -110 mph this summer.

Stream 1
06-23-2002, 11:31 AM
I have talked to Helmet but I don't think I've exchanged info with Mark Soliman yet. We have tried higher pitched props and gotten more top end but lost too much mid range. After talking to Helmet we need to add three inches of set back. We are currently running 5 1/2 back even with the pad with a 26 ET. Boat is running 83/85 with two onboard and drops to 80 with three.

While I am interested in top end I really want to help the boat through acceleration. We're actually going to move back to a 150 or 175 to try and get the boat to run better with legal HP.

Thanks for the input.

Jim

I know this is a bit late, but when you talking about how your rigs are a bit slow, what #'s are you really talking about?

To me slow is 70 or less. Back in my bass fishing days, that was FAST. My Stratos/150 MagII was radared in the mid 60ies w/no load (speedo was touching 75. LOL) and it felt like a rocket.

I've been on one rig since then that ran or had the potiental of running faster. (No I don't get out much, mostly salt water fishing since giving up bass in early 90ies.)

I'd be happy with a rig that had 70+ speed and being able to look cool. Good looking rigs by the way. OUT,,,, DD

1990 comp V-KING I think it was the last comp V out of the original factory. Howard did the lay up himself and went a little crazy with light.Bare hull was 425lbs. I have it carpeted and rigged for lake and ski use with center steering and 2.4 carb motor and weighed it at 1040 lbs with half tank of fuel.Has run 90 with 200, 98 with SST 140 BP and 108(blew out) with mod 2.4 BP EFI.All were very punchy but con be hairy in rough water.Motor is broke now but am working on a new mod 2.4 oval carb right now.All three in the bottom pic. were ordered in the winter of 1990 and got to go to the factory and check on them being built. The HST is Steve A (Mr Gimlet)'s now and the Vulture is a freinds and has a mod V8 on it now (very nice,FASTand for sale )
Ithink Steve A has it listed on the board.

Heres a pic of my AE/HST. Its a lightweight, picture shows it with the original 3.0 225 Mercury gave me for a Hot Boat article. The boat ran high 80's with that slug (1996). But the boat was the third fastest in accelleration. The boat is now running a 2.5 Offshore 260+/-. It runs real high 90's with a 26 ET, low 100's with a 28 and over 110 with a 32.

Picture was taken by my house in 1997 and if I remember correctly the passes were 86/87 mph. As you can see due to light weight boat flys pretty high even at that speed.

duke, i cant believe i missed this thread too!!! and i cant even shrink my pics to fit on here.......anyone can help me??? i have a '77 ventura and currently it has a 2.5 200hp motor that has about maybe 3hrs of its break in so far!! it should FLY with this motor!!! i got it with its original 115inline and stock windshield too!! then put an early 175hp v6merc on it which did about 73 for my best speed(definately had more with more setup time)... ok, great pics from everyone and hopefully i can have a couple of pics on here too... thanks-- sean

To make the pics smaller, RIGHT CLICK on the pick, a little box will pop up, highlight "RESIZE PICTURE" then click it, a menu will be displayed, the "small" size is usally just right.
Then upload that when you manage your attachments.
