Hi All!

I'm trying to put the final touches on puting the Euro back together. Hooked up the trim pump and that puppy is dead. Makes noise...really sick sounding with no high pitch noise that I'm used to. It will trim about half way up if you have roughly an hour.

Brushes most likely? where do you buy them? which ones do I need?

I'm assuming you can rebuild them

Any input would be great!!

Thanks,

Jb

I had a trim go out on vacation once. Replacing it would have taken too much time and $. I took it to electric motor rebuilder in town and $40.00 and 1/2 hour later I was out the door. If it's the motor, you may want to try that.

I was able to take my motor apart, free up the brushes (they were stuck in the holders) clean the oxidation off of the commutator (the part of the motor armature where the brushes make contact) with a pencil eraser, clean it up inside and out with a little brake cleaner, and put it back together. The biggest pain is getting the brushes to stay put while you put the top back on. A little inginuity goes a long way there.

If you don't want to tackle it, take it to an electric motor shop.

You say the motor works and will raise the motor 1/2 way, just takes to long. How is the fluid level?

Thanks for the input guys!

Thats the problem...I was trying to fill it but the motor really wasn't pushing anything through it. I think I'll have to clean/replace the brushes first to be able to fill it and lift the motor completely.

Thanks again!

If it was real low you'll have to run it up and down, occasionally filling it, until you purge all the air and fill the system with fluid. It can take a lot of up/down cycles and it won't sound normal because it it's pumping air. Be sure you give a good try before you pull it off.

I was with a buddy filling his pump last night (new rig) and he had the sounds that I was used to. Mine sounds like its been on a drinkin' binge for a while and smoked a couple packs an hour. I'll try the brushes first.

Thanks again,
