Wow, it's fast. Definitely faster than the [already very fast] D200 and likely faster than the D2xs too. That's no surprise, since the D300 is Nikon's new flagship DX model. The new autofocus system is really nice - very quick and accurate too. I didn't attach the MB-D10 yet - I'll try that next time.

I'm thinking of getting one to replace my D70s. Have you ever tried macro lenses on your D200 or D300?

Unfortunately, no - but I hear the 105 VR is an amazing lens for macro work. I'm not a macro shooter though. I will say that the D200/D300 is a huge jump over the D70, but I still have my D70 and I think it's an awesome camera.

Greg,

Just got mine, haven't had much time to play. I'm very interested to see how the new autofocus system will work for shooting fast moving boats...

Have you tried the 3d focus tracking??? Focus area moves with the subject through the viewfinder, very cool.

For those interested, Nikon has a great tutorial site for many of their digital cameras, this ones for the 300 http://www.nikondigitutor.com/eng/d300/index.shtml

Couple of shots from the Key West worlds with my 200...:)
