Carpet Alternative

Anybody have a recommendation/supplier for a deck/floor covering lighter than carpet? I was thinking along the lines of something like no-slip skateboard tape, thats sold in 7' widths or a light rubber/vinyl. Looking for something in a navy,dark grey or black, not the bright colors usually used for sailboats. Open to suggestions. Thanks.

Take it to a reputable fiberglass repair shop and have them cover everything with gelcoat and then web it, color options are endless, it's lighter and wears very well.

You could be right, but I'd think that the gelcoat is heavier.

Nope, use the gelcoat in my personal boat, it can be brushed on or sprayed on like paint. It took less than a gallon to do my boat. weigh that against 7 or 8 yards of carpet.

Could you give me an estimate of how many square yards you covered with a gallon? Also, what are you referring to as "webbed"? Thanks.

I'm planning on using vinyl or cloth, marine grade.
I don't walk around in it so this might not be much good for you.
I think there is cloth like a rubbery or vinyl coated stuff, not sure.

The cloth I also looked into was backpacking cloth- stuff like that. Very heavy.
Another option is that patio grass stuff. The plastic carpet? Something like a welcome mat.

When I did the floor I noticed a carefull aplication of glass and done very dry would result in a cloth apperance, just paint it lightly.

The marine grade vinyl would work, I've just never seen it available in darker colors. Thats kind of what I'm looking for. Allison sells a rubber flooring like I'm looking for, but its pre-cut for "of course", an Allison. I also recall someone on the Allison board mentioning something like the wide skate board tape I mentioned above as a lighter alternative, but no source. Hoping someone here might know.
