Best epoxy resin?

I am currently restoring my 16ft GW Invader. New transom, stringers, core, floor. I was wondering what is the best epoxy resin to use? I have used west system before but it is kind of expensive. Is there any others out there that compare to the quality and performance of the west system epoxies without the hefty price tag?

There are many good epoxies on the market MAS has an easy fast or medium or slow catylyst which it convienent and The MAS stays clearer than most.
Remember don't smell it don't touch it and don't breath the dust if you keep that rule in mind -epoxy is safe to work with gloves and proper ventalation also epoxy fumes sink they don't rise, wash epoxy off your body with soap and water

the biggest difference is the specific weight of the resin. some lower the cost by adding toulene to the mix thus lowering the cost. but there not much difference in the actual material.

I've used a lot of epoxy over the past 2 years and can't say I had a whole lot of safety in mind when I did it. So I googled 'epoxy resin dangers' and came across this link. Its disturbing so unless you have a strong stomach don't click it. I highly recommend NO ONE try this with Epoxy or any other material for that matter. We have done lots of testing with the carbon FSAE race car and this stuff seems to be the best for weight to strength.

They use to make a epoxy head that was the low end but i do not see it on there site anymore.

I really think that epoxy is something you get what you pay for.

Not true. You pay a ton of money for packaging, marketing, and a distributer network. How many manufactures of epoxy are there, maybe 4?

From the testing we did resin cost of around 70-80 dollars a gallon where all pretty close

Resin less then 40 dollars a gallon was not even close in bond strength we did test a few different brands at the time. (3 years ago)

So all i can tell you is that the pro-set and west system both had good value.

And product support.

I'll also pull my trump card being a polymer chemist. The work they have done and the testing they do are that of a quality company that cares about their product.

Always, always,always wear gloves
I wear two to three layers, your going to get holes and when one set get messed up you just remove one layer and keep going.
If you get sensitized , you may get some VERY nasty reactions
