2005 Mercury Opti-Max 200 question

I found a guy selling the entire outboard for $3k minus the lower unit. Not sure if that's a good deal, but would my CLE lower unit mount up to this?

I don't think so. The 2005 200 Optimax was a 3L engine. Your CLE is for a 2.5L.

Merc were nuts in 2005 - 6 different 200 HP engines
200 Verado
200 Optimax
200 XS
3L 200 EFI
2.5L 200 EFI

if its a 200xs opti 200 then the lower unit may work. if its the 3.0;iter fishing opti then no. you can get a factory rebuild LU for 2500 to 3000.
