My D200 will now get relegated to backup duty. I really, really liked that D200 - more than the D2xs. If the D300 is everything the D200 was and more, it's going to smoke the D2xs. The D300 is a more robust camera than the D2xs in every way, so we'll see. It's now Nikon's DX-format flagship model. One my my last photos taken with the D200 :(

just put you second lens on the 200 and main on the 300. that way you can keep the dust out of the CCDs.

Actually, I never change lenses. I always have a body for each purpose. I still keep my old D70 in my case for wide-angle use, like shows, etc. It's very light and has a very fast sync speed, so it's fantastic for all-day show use. That, and my D50 as well, which is irreplaceable for high-ISO, all-day use.

I'll mount the 70-200 on the D300, and keep the D200 body in my case as a backup in case the D300 fails during an important shoot. I have the battery grip for the D200 and D300 too, but I never mounted the grip for the D200, so who knows if I'll use it for the D300. I really like the idea of using the EN-EL4 for the D300 and the 8FPS. We'll see though...

Cool  Go take some nice pictures with it but remember, no cats , no dogs and no un-boxing photos. Does Nikon make the optional grip for the D300 ? I remember they 3rd partied it to someone else for the D200/D80 and it was horrible, I wouldn’t even consider it when I mounted it at the store. I saw your comment to Jim Fenton, I laughed my @ss off.. I can’t believe he let those photos go up. Good luck & keep us posted

LOL, the famous "unboxing" and pet photos. Gotta love that. Amazing that people continue to do that over and over again, and to that they get replies such as, "amazing work!", and "great photo!". Unreal.

I believe the MB-D10 is totally a Nikon product. It's mag-alloy (thankfully) like the camera body and uses the EN-EL4 battery (awesome). I never knew the D200 grip was a third party-built unit - I never even removed mine from the box, and I received it with my D200 back in Dec. 2005. When I ordered it, I was under the impression that it was mag-alloy. Once I learned it was plastic, I lost all interest.
