I saw an Pro boat the other day with a water cooled 14.4 volt motor. It was pretty fast but I don't really know. I am looking to get into an electric boat and any info would be greatly appreciated. TIA

I will have a epoxy fiberglass STV style hull out soon. The molds are about done.

I'll need to buy a RTR as I have no experience or idea how to rig one.

I can set them up RTR, no problem. It's just a matter of getting the molds done.

Keep me posted. I would want a 35-45 mph boat and liquid cooled. Got any vids of yours running? They are the ****. I am a member of rum runners and have been to the other site but can't get regestered as they won't register yahoo email account and I haven't one set up with my dsl provider.

TD, I've been considering selling off some of my fleet. I've got a Hydro I built this summer and have not run much as I kind of got away from the RC boats when I bought the Check. It's fast, reliable and very stable ie. fun. I can sell it RTR with a stock radio or not. Setup for 4S lipo power and has run 44 mph on GPS. Here's a vid on the first few we built.... Mine is the white one with no graphics or anything. Never painted it yet.

I saw a video of an electric RC that claimed the "World Record" for electric..........maybe even against a fuel boat.

It screamed like a two stroke motor, and got to top speed in NO TIME.

They claimed it ran 121 MPH.......

I may still have the video here somewhere, but it was unreal.

Aquacraft Supervee 27. Get the best batteries you can buy. This is a great boat at a reasonable price.

Very true, but you will be spending alot of your fun time recovering a capsized boat. I have 3 of them.

Richard

How true that is. I don't run it unless my pal with the row boat is standing by. It's great fun, though, until it flips and goes bow-up.

They do flip easy. I at least have a fishing rod/reel with a weighted cork and keep within a castable distance from shore when I run any boat. If your SV is going nose up, you need to remove all the hardware on the transom and seal it w/silicone and start taping your hatch closed.

I saw one the other day with the antenna mounted on the transom. got any idea what type it is? I would guess it is waterproof.

Must have missed this one earlier. The fastest RC boat record is held by the JAG's Team from Germany with a 32 (conventional cell) powered electric "rigger" @ 143.xx MPH average in a two way pass. I think the "SAW" course is 300'??? Stealth Assasin can prolly tell ya better than me.

Here's one where they went 139 mph and cracked up on the backup run...but they hold the worlds record for RC boats @143.something or other. I can't seem to find that video.

That's a simple 90 degree antenna mount available from most shops. I have one on my cat made by Aeromarine although the tube on it is only about 3" long. I use a Spectrum radio and my cat is the only boat/truck I have with an actual "visable" antenna. My SV's have no antenna external at all. I have the hatch lock hole and the antenna holes glassed over for yet even more water-proofing. Did I mention packing the batteries in with foam to keep them in place in a flip. I've tried modified mounts, velcro epoxied to the floor and all kinds of stuff. The ONLY thing that works in real world race, rough water, flips, is packing a piece of foam on top on the packs and under the hatch and a wide strip of velcro on the floor to keep the packs from sliding forward when the plow the bow. The foam keeps them "mashed down" under the taped hatch and the velcro keeps them from moving fore or aft.........most of the time...hehehehe. I've run a stock SV to 42.6 with WC4200's and a good prop. We HAVE run them over 50 mph with "other" motor/esc/prop setups. They are best suited for stock stuff with good prep work and good props.

Here's a shot of our Supervee 27 "spec" class milling before a heat this past Spring... The "Cingular" boat is one of mine. I smacked a wall at a local park one day testing props and have never fixed it. The "4Q" was to be my team replacement, but I kind of got away from it about that time.Prolly why I never fixed the 31 boat.... Notice there's no external antenna on the 31 boat. You can also see several 90 degree Aeromarine antenna mounts on the other boats....most of which converted to spread spectrum tech not much longer afer these pics were taken.

Would salt water be a problem for electric rc boats?

jallen355
11-28-2007, 07:30 PM
I guess about as much as it is for a real boat. I would definatley rinse it quite well afterwards. That inculdes the cooling system just like a real boat.

What would you like to know? The mold will be done soon and I will post pics of the hull when the mold cast the first part. There are a few changes from perfect scale. ;)

Steath Assassin I thought I recognized you on the rc forums. I am anxious to see the stv.

I just bought a Proboat Brushless Blackjack. So far it has been fun. I just ran the boat with the stock motor and trunity batteries and it hit 36 mph. Another good one will be the Supervee 27

Could you get in touch with me when you get the STV done? I don't know anything about this stuff but think I would like to try it. Is there a huge learning curve?
