Its hard 2 say, they make 2 150's i'm thinking 1 is a v-90 and 1 is a v-60,the 175 will be as simple as 25 more horses, the blocks are the same but the e.m.m programing and injectors are bifferent,it is possiuble the intakes are also different.

Thanks for the info... i see that the weight between the 150 and 175 is exactly the same so i guess i need to decide if 25 more horse power is worth the price diffrence.

Go with the 150 H.O.
It has low water pick-up

The 150 and the 150HO are pretty much the same motor, with the HO having a different gearcase very similar to the "L" case used on the big 3.3 V6's. The 175 will have the case similar to the "M" or case used on the big block 3.3 non HO motors. If your boat is heavy, needs the motor buried, and will be used offshore or jumping waves, get the 175. If it is to be used on a bassboat or other lighter boat where you will be running the gearcase high, get the 150HO.;)

The boat i am putting it on is a bay boat 19' by PRO GATOR... i want to say it's about 1400 lbs but not sure without going back and looking.

On a bay style boat, I'd opt for the 175. The gearcase will tolerate the abuse better than the "L" style case on the HO.;)

Hi there,

Just curious here, as I am chosing between 150 and 150HO for pretty much the same reasons as this thread discusses.
I want "sturdier and take abuse" rather than "extreme hi end top speed".
I assume i should go for the "regular" 150 then?
I spend much of my time in rough-ish water where I can't go that fast anyway
and the 150 should be plenty for my needs...

Am I right in thinking along these lines with these engines...
(can't wait to replace my 4stroke ;-)

thanx and regards

In your case the "regular" 150hp is your best option. You are going to be a happy man. These engines are incredible. Long live the DI 2 stroke.

Prop to run at not less than 5600rpm, not more than 5800rpm. Use XD100 oil. & you are good to go. Keep in touch. Feel free to IM me at any time.
