Anyone else ride these?
I've had my eye on one of these for a while since their insanely popular in my neck of the woods. Looks like a lot of fun to flock around the back twisties and in town duties.
I drive 15 minutes by insterstate (autobahn) to work one way and don't think the single would like the R's too much, but should handle it to around 65-70mph OK I'd think.

i am not sure about the production models like thae one pictured, i would think it is tuned down alittle bit from the ones i have rode. afew of my friends have took ktm 450's and 525's and swaped them to supermoto bikes. the only problem with taking the ktm moto bikes and putting them on the road is you will need to add a 5th gear kit on some. but even with 4 gears you can cruse at 60mph without too much rpm's. wheelie machines, alittle twitchy on the stearing but nothing too bad if you use to motorcycles. the production bikes that are steet leagal i would think are 6 gears and alittle more rider friendly. but either way they are very light, powerful bikes.:D

No doubt.
Hooligan bikes for sure. Instant power thats begging to be goosed. Btw, specs show it as being a five speed.

RODE THE SM400 AND IT WAS A POOCH!
PUT AN RMZ450 MOTOR IN ONE AND THEN YOU GOT SOMETHIN.
I HAVE NO IDEA WHY SUZUKI MADE IT A 400 DR MOTOR, WHEN THEY HAVE THE 450 RMZ MOTOR PERFECTED???????
SORRY TO BUST YOUR BUBBLE BUT IT WAS A POOCH STOCK.
MAYBE A BIG BORE KIT AND PIPE WITH SOME OTHER MODS MIGHT CHANGE IT A LITTLE.

No bro, you ain't hurtin my feelings at all. Speak out as I'm listening. Just wish they'd make it in a twin banger so it'd handle the stress of highway duties a little better.

i know you can get lights for the kfx, rmz, yzf, and crf 450 dirtbikes but they have some kind of japan trade tariff that you have to get around in order to make it a street legal bike. but ktm is from Australia and these dont exist with ktm's. you can get a lighting system on the bike, street legal tires and have the dmv certify it as legal and then you get a licence plate for it. just like if you build a chopper or other kit bike. ktm also sold a ktm 525 that was already street legal without detuning the motor. i would think the main 4 dont want people out there with these high performance dirtbike motors on the street for liability:confused: but never the less, the real ones that were once dirt bikes are fun.

You will be much happer with a Kawasaki KLR650
And just purchase a Motor kit from after market.
Some just change to a street tire and use same rim size.

That is the big item around my area with Dragon, located in Deals Gap, NC close by, and it will eat a DRZ400sm butt!

Since I live in Germany, I've looked at the KTM 690 SuperMoto as well. It seems more apropriate but DAMN its not cheap. Even looked at some a year or two old & that helps a little.

The KLR is good if there is some graded 2 track to contend with, but it's slow,( I have one) no matter what you hop it up with. What I hear you asking for is a Ducati Hypermotard. Also there's a KTM v-twin, I forget what they call it, but it's along the same lines. All the single cylinder motards will be buzzy on the slab. The suzuki drz400m is a slug...what were they thinking?

HOW MUCH WITH THE BIG BORE KIT? CAN YOU CHANGE THE TOP END OUT WITH THE RMZ450?
WHY IN TARNATION DID ZUKI BUILD THAT SLUG?????
THEY DONT EVEN HAVE A CLASS FOR IT IN AMA.
450 MIN CC TO BE COMPETETIVE?
RMZ MOTOR WOULD CHANGE EVERTHING IN MY OPINION, I WOULD BUY ONE IN A SECOND IF IT WAS.
OPEN MOUTH INSERT FOOOT, YOU CAN DO THAT RIGHT.$$$$$$$$$
