I wuz a quilty party the first race at MtPleasant for not showing, cuz My bote wuzn't finished...So I kan't bitch too much about the No showz at Montgomery...But I will take this time to say, If U 120 guyz don't git off ya asses and make the races, the class iz sho gunna be **** canned!!! When the rules committee wuz gittin ready to meet to set the new rules, I had a dozen or more racers(are wanna beez) calling me to put in their request of changes in the 120 class...Jus so happen, all the changes came about like most people wanted, now NO frick'in botes!!! I went to montgomery wit a stock fishin motor, after blowing up 2, 1 thursday and 1 friday...I took 3rd out of 2 boat field...so what wuz ya'llz excuse...Sid and I made 3 passes, to keep thingz alive a lil longer...Yes, we paid our entry fee, so nuttin wuz a freebe...I needed sum seat time and Sid needed sum tune time, which we both got...I couldn't even git a bass bote to fill in...I offered to pay entry for one guy that came to watch that said he had a Vector wit a 2.0 at home, he didn't even have to join ODBA...but He didn't want everbody to see him git beat, he had buddies that would give hime a hard time!!! I have about a grand in my lil bote and a couple in my motor...U kan't even ride cheaper than that...mussless race...but U do have to work...If sumbody don't step up to the plate and start showing in the 120 class, the cheapest and only real entry level class ODBA has, will be history, and it won't be long...Jus sumpthin I had to git off my chest...Thankz Sid, I had fun anyway!!...REX
Hey T Rex. If you rember , alot of us would run class if merc had a chance to win. Let any merc run, any mod, any induction, at same weight as v4 ,and do not allow any fuel, use pump gas only. Now lets see what would happen ? Rahracing.

Sorry we didn't come REX it was just too damn far to go without knowing if anybody but you and me would show... You are fortunate to be kind of in the middle of the Circut... it was 740 miles for me... I have sunk alot of time and more money then you think to get ready for this season... Thought a couple of guys I knew were going to build some boats as well... But they backed out... Not sure what's going to happen to ODBA.. Chris is basicly trying to give his TRIAD way for less then 10 grand and NOBODY has expressed any intrest at all...
We went to Mt Pleasant and besides the ODBA officials who went out of there way to help us... were basicaly ignored... Figued out pretty quick all we would have to do is Join ODBA enter all the events and Win the championship without ever taking the boat off the trailer... What fun is that....
So to elimate all confusion this is our plan.....
We want to race YOU...
So we will be at Westlake for sure ...if we have to pimp the wife and dogs... to make it happen
We also plan on making Jasper cause we want win the WORLD CHAMPIOMSHIP.... Know there will be some boat there.....

U kan't open the class up like that, it would jus be anuther all Merc class...I never got my motor right last year, and I wuz in the runnin...now theyz fuel injection, and hydroz...I run Sunday wit a stock 150 merc carb motor...I ain't skeered!! The problem az I see it, iz everbody wants a sure win if they sho!!! Well, it ain't gunna happen, I don't giva a **** what class it iz...theyz only 1 winner...and if ya don't run, U never will win!!! They don't pay money fer bank race'in, if they did, OB drag racing would be a multi billion dollar sport...Jus in La. REX

Rex you and I must just be a couple of old idiots... maybe we've been out in the sun too long... Hell to think we could actually win with the cards stacked against us sooooooo bad....
Come on you guys.... I watched Chris Ray last year... his boat is WAY FAST... but I think of what I've seen of him that he would be way fast if he chose to run a Merc as well.... He just has his **** together.... I have discovered his secret though.... Notice my boat is WHITE... oops let the cat out of the bag....
I think allowing fuel injection and aftermarket ECU's this year might make it pretty intresting... Would llike to be able to use my MAD front half but.....
The way I see it in the class right now you have 2 choices... either build a good sold EFI Merc for nominal outlay... Or spend a tonne of money to keep a FUELED OMC operational...
Think if we ever get a chance to run'em togther the playing field is going to be a lot leveler then alot of people think....
That's just my opion
I could be wrong....
Bring your **** out there an let's find out
mr fun

Here are the 2002 class rules. Just my opinion but this class has been doomed since the V6 was included. Making rules that satisfy both the V4 and V6 guys is a job for Jesus.

2 liter Steel Sleve block "Can't sleve down a 2.5"
Don't rember max cubic inch but know you can go 30 over on all six and still be legal
No behind the liner mods
Any Merc carbs or EFI intake
Do all the cutting and a grinding you want
Have to run on 110 gas you buy from ODBA
1150 pounds mim boat & driver
Rex can give you a little more info... but the above is pretty close
For that matter bolt on a V8 Johnny Rude and well probably let you run anyway.... Just show up........

This is the way I see it.............The people who want to win without ever puttin their boat in the water will always have some kind of excuse..........usually something about things not being fair.
It is too windy, the water is not right, I left my good prop at home, etc, etc.
If you guys watch the yamaha of Sid Leblanc this year you won't see him complaining, and he has only got 107 cubic inches and the guy has flat flys. He just does his homework, period, nothing more.
It took me two years of running last place to finally figure out how to make things work. Once I learned how to tune and test in a consistant manner things started to turn my way. No complaining, no crying that things are not fair, just work
All the top runners test and test hard. Example.......Bruce Trip, he will go to the water and test between 6 and 8 hours at a time. That is why the guy is so fast. I tend to test for 2 to 4 hours at a time and usually 2 to 3 times a week during race season, no rocket science there.
All you guys that wanted a cheap way to go race, this is it. I have less than $6000 in my rig. That sure beats the hell out of the $20,000 to $25,000 price tag to go run Super Stock or Supersport.
Rule changes were made for people who requested them and still no show! What's the deal?
Howie, I applaud you effort, don't give up. If you want to run the Mad System by all means run it! If you show at the races with it and discuss it with the other 120 racers you are in. They will be more than happy to let you play.
Ray, build your motor the way you want to and show up, the boys will let you in.
No more excuses. I hate hearing a grown man "snivel".
You bring it and you will get to run it. I will personally guarantee
it.
Be sure to call me, I will be there with "Bells On"
Chris:)

Racemore, U fit right in, If U weigh 1150#'s and less that 126ci's...are fingerported and are willing to run, we can find a spot for U...Barry, U are right about not being able to satisfy the V-4's and V-6's...I think Chris Ray should have weighed 1500#'s last year...but, that didn't happen...U kan never satisfy all, hell, jus satisfying a few would be a mile stone...Sum real racers are willing to bend, Chris set out this year so my lungz could rebuild from breathing that **** he made me breathe from following him last year...Now thats a tru racer...I had a lil shot of tha past this weekend when following Sid back to the starting barge...smelled that same stink'in **** Chris used to burn...I think I'll call Morris Bart, jus in case...REX

Dude, I hate tha class is in limbo... For tha record... I made tha comment if ya opened it up to hydroz, I would make tha effort,,,,thank you,,,,but,,,,during the winter, most of ya were in question and I got some negative feedback about hydros being allowed, so... I backed off...Bad decision?...probably... I've sunk most in the U/O thang and hope ta be at Westlake if I get it programed and setup by then. Still can't find enough free time! ER got me the weight break and I still owe him.
From what I have seen, 120 iz by far the best place for a rookie to start in ODBA...I may be wrong...use to that....but, most are looking for a lesser expensive chance to race. This is it! I spent some time over the last 2 years hanging out in the shadows of ODBA folks and they will help ya with whatever ya need. I stood and watched guys help their competition even though it might get them beat on the course. It didn't matter, that's what they are about!!! Don't be concerned with getting yo butt beat. It's gunna happen. I like tha brackets but I got my ass splashed there also. Racing is racing.....get in the lane and run...see what happens and go from there.
Rex, yur in da crosshairs...... I hope itz not over, cause I still gotta kick dat mudbug, sticky gue, wet, backwater, darkside, 5 cyl, ass! ;)
See ya in a couple weeks:cool:

Kinda confused:confused: Can I put 2liter Sleeves in a 2.4 and cut the ports like my 200 or do I have to buy a 2liter block? And if ya know, how fast are ya.ET? MPH ? See if I can get my junk to run that fast.
T-REX
06-04-2002, 06:28 AM
U kan sleeve down a 2.4...jus not a 2.5 cuz it's a behind tha liner...the 2.4 sleeved down iz probabally the route to take, cuz the fingerports will be deeper az well az the other ports being bigger, and also will save sum 15 to 20 poundz...My lil boat last year run 11:90's to 11:80's...I thank Chris Ray's lil monster run sum 11:60;s at times...My bote run around 95mph, Chris Ray run just over 90, and Sid set the mph record @ 99mph...I don't worry bout the mph...Chris could only run 90, but he did it in 600'!!! Try to run that down...quick iz wher it's at....Troy, Glad to hear U still workin on ya ride, I jus hope tha class holdz out till U git it going...Hydro, it's me and U son!!! we gunna rumble, even if they ain't no 120 class...I will run unlimited jus to git to U...I ain't skeered, I been whooped before, but I kan handle it, and U gunna have it to do ever time we meet...see ya uglyness in Westlake, REX:cool:
