Im waiting for it to come back from Herring, I cant wait to try it;)

So did you try a 4 blade ET?

jphii

Nope, I just want a Herring in a big way. I have tried a copy, but that doesn't mean anything. I've ran other copies back to back with the real thing and none of them have ever run like the real thing except for one that Billy Eaves built. Now that one I kept.

Yes I have a 28 lab, locks up hard out of the hole, turns a lot harder than the 28 pitch it is stamped. Very stable on my hull, good lift..... too much pitch for me will trade for a 26 of equal conditon.

Rob, how do you think that would work as a general cruising prop in something like a 30p compared to a 30 3 blade? more or less efficient? i was thinking of picking up a 28 or 30 to run as a cruise prop.

I was just checking Jaco's (http://www.jacosmarine.com/) to see what they are getting for new ones. They are cheaper than I thought (relative, of course), and cheaper than some used ones I've seen advertised.

the 4 bade ET's blade shape is A LOT different than a regular ET.
1 bad is hooks a lot harder than the 3 blade, is very stable on my boat.

RBT I have a 26P 4B Bullet Cut Performer that I run to 90 at 6200 on my Bullet. I'm adding 3" more setback and need more pitch. I'd be willing to let you run it and trade for the 28 Pro-ET if interested. The Bullet cut is closer to the Pro-Et than the ET cut.

Mine runs 90 at 6000, I have a drag.... and need to turn it 8500 or more. I can only run 71-7200 with this.
I am going to probably keep this prop and order a 24 and 26 Pro ET to see.

thanks though.

I agree with Rob, Interesting out of the hole characteristics – some aeration but grips well, excellent hook up thereafter and very very low percentage of slip. Also a gives additional free bow lift for SOB’s – less trim required. All in all a very nice prop but Rob is correct the pitch is overstated I have a 30” and I can’t turn it over 6000 rpm. Need a 28”

Rob, I’d like to try yours before you get rid of it... My 30” is up for sale or trade in the prop section but it looks like the boys down south can buy it cheaper new than mine discounter any suggestions...?

Frank,

the comparison I did was I ran a 32 4 blade merc, I call it the hump back prop, than I ran a new 30 4 blade performance, than a 30 merc et, and finally the 32 4 blade et, all at the same height, I found that the 30 3 blade et excellerated the hardest, the 30 4 blade performance got up on plane the best and a great all around performer, but the 32 4 blade et was the fastest by 4mph, 106 mph, :)

dirk pitt what lu gear ratio are you running and what rpm's with the 32 four blade et to get 106???
mine has 1.87 and turning 7300 @ 105

Roy,
I ran just about 6300 with 1.62's, on the skater its all about engine height.

Frank,
The 30 Et ran about 6500, with great excelleration.

I'll try and take a picture of this prop, its really different from the 3 blade ET

The boat is a '90 and the engine an '03. I used to run a 2.5L 200 EFI on the boat. This is my first season with the X. It has run 83-84 MPH with my girlfriend and I on board spinning a 26" ventillated Bravo 1 lab. I've yet to make a long stable run at WOT with just myself on board and light fuel due to a handling issue that I am addressing by moving the battery and power steering pump to port. It would ride flat and fly with two on board, but would list slightly to starboard and chine walk riding solo over 6K RPM. I did see 88.4 MPH on my GPS System Speedo once, but had to lift. I decided to focus on taming the handling issues before attempting any more solo WOT runs!

I only ran the 26" Pro-ET for about 10 minutes due to rain:mad:. The holeshot was OK and it had good bow lift. It did vibrate more than my Bravo on top, however.

Can't wait til spring!

theres alot more speed in the boat
what you need to do is raise the motor alittle
and try a 28" stock trophy, you cant go wrong with that set up
the boat will handle much nicer
but you will need 1.75 gears

I run 12" setback with 1.75:1 gears and the prop shaft 1.75" above the pad. With this setup, my 26" and 28" Trophys plane poorly with a passenger on board. The Bravo and Pro-ET rocket the boat on plane after a short rev due to their larger diameters (14.5" Pro-Et/15.25 Bravo). I would like to add 1"-2" of addtional setback and try the Trophys again.

The boat was still picking up speed when I saw 88.4 MPH, I just had to back off because I could not drive out of the chine walking:eek: . Once I get everything balanced, I'm super confident I'll see higher speeds.

That may be the cause of your "handling problem". Is the power steering fast enough to drive out of a chine walk?

No. The steering is awesome, quick and tight. It's the best thing I ever put in the boat!

I have too much starboard weight bias. When I carry a passenger or put sandbags on the port side, it flies free and level on the pad with no chine walking at all. I'm shifting about 75 Ibs to the port side over the winter.
