Has anyone run a 15" 300x on a 21 Skater?

John,
The way it was, was not acceptable to me, a 15 year old 2.5, no way.
I got a fair price for the 2.5, in exchange I got a 2005 300x with a 15" mid, steering, and a one year warrenty, I would do that deal anyday.
Yes I am having a water pressure issue but I am confident you know who will find a solution:p
Anyway I was hoping someone out there has some experience with that set up.

Did you ever think about putting a in-boat water pickup for better water pressure. Used one on mine was able to jack it to the moon with great water pressure.:) Chuck

chuck,
I had one in the boat, when I took off the 2.5 20" cle, I thought the sportmaster would give me plenty of water pressure:rolleyes: Wrong,
but as always thanks for your input:) , its alway apprciated:D

Yeah, some guy from the South Shore is testing one now. Apparently the water is too low to reach the water intakes at speed. He needs one of the following:
1. A "Neuro-Hydraulic Inter Sponson Water Level Raiser" (I understand that a few are left over from the Cold War in the Lockheed "Skunk Works")...or
2. The addition of approximately 500 lbs of transom ballast.......or
3. A 17" motor.
I hope this helps.......:p

Well if that guy from L.I. just puts you in the back seat, your 500lb head full of useless stuff that you obsorb from the atmosphere should do the trick:p :D :D :D
Does Skunk Works really have A "Neuro-Hydraulic Inter Sponson Water Level Raiser" If so who can I call to get one?:p :D

If you find one be sure it is the "B" Model...... The "A" model only works in fresh water above 87 degrees Fahrenheit.

I jack mine until the back gets loose and I still have 25psi.

Transom water pickup, I ran them on my skater, worked great!

I just spoke to a friend of mine Chris from 24/7 marine in Lake Walenpaupak. Chris has owned a 28 skater and now has a 21. He is about to mount a 2.5 with a 15'' shaft on his 21. He called Peter at Skater and Peter told him though it is a little tricky or complicated to do you are much better off running a 15'' shaft on the boat. The center of gravity with the 15'' shaft will make the top end performance like night and day over the 20'' shaft. Anyway Chris can be reached at 1-570-676-8888 mon - fri, 9 am to 5 pm and saturday 10 am to 2 pm. He also suggested calling Skater direct according to Chris, Peter would be more then happy to help you
Anthony:)

Made by Skater. Ran on both my 21's and 24.
TL,
Thats some contraption,:) too many holes for me, if I go with an external water pick up, I will reinstall what I had, It was a fitting flush mounted on the bottom, it provided 25lbs of w/p on the 2.5. That was also a Skater design.
Anyway thanks for sharing that equipment with me.
That was mounted on the transom, right?

I got one on the bottom of my 21 hull, running a 1.62 sporty. I have great water pressure almost to much up to about 95 mph then it drops to about 3-5 and waivers thats when I back off or lower the motor quick. The intake only protrudes about an eighth inch below the bottom surface, I think it need to be longer because mine seems ineffective. Dean

I haven't had any PSI issues, but then again maybe I'm not raising the engine up enough?? With the 300xs it's in the 25psi range. Anyone else got measurements from the tunnel down or sponsons up?

Jeff At Trick says he running 3" to 3 1/2" above the running surface, and producing fast numbers, hows the 300 xs doing on the 21, how fast is it with that motor?

Here were I got my water pickup. The one in the middle of the page. Ran a bulkhead fitting with a check valve back to the engine. Piped it in to were you have the flush attachment. Chuck

Chuck,
I kinda like that 1st one, the check valve lets the water run in or out?

No, the check valve only allows the water to go from the thru hull to the motor, so that when there is less pressure from the thru hull than the waterpump and stock pickup are making that the water doesn't just run out the thru hull, then when the water pressure from the thru hull is greater than the pump output the water fom the thru hull will go into the motor. You still use the stock pickup and the water pump, the thru hull is just in addition to them at speed. All the boats up here in the Northwest that I've seen have the check valve mounted right at the engine, that way if you loose or get a leak in the hose then the water will still stay in the engine from the stock pick up. You just put a 90 degree fitting and the check valve with a barbed fitting for your hose to attach to, you go into the 3/4" pipe hole in the left side of the Exhaust housing, there is a brass plug in the hole from the factory. I wouldn't go into the flush attachment as it has a much smaller fitting where it goes into the block so the water would be restricted quite a bit more. They all run the type that Chuck recommended through the bottom of the hull just forward of the drain plug.
There are 3 21's up here with thru hulls and they only run them on one hull, they don't have them from both hulls as someone suggested in another post to you.

thanks for that info,:D but the one chuck used looks like a transom pickup, you mention through the bottom of hull just forward of the drain plug.

I thought Chuck said the one in the middle of the page, the top ones are transom mount and the next one's down on that page are thru hulls. On my Spectre the previous owner made short transom pickups that mount on the back of the hull before the notch and the hoses stay outside the boat, doesn't look as nice as having the hoses routed inside the boat but if a hose should ever fail it won't fill the boat with water, they have a 90 degree elbow pointing the opposite direction from the one's at Rex marine so instead of going thru the hull the hose just goes back to the rear of the boat.

I got this for mine but never installed it yet It mounts through the port side bottom just in front of drain plug. Stainless Marine left more than enough to trim off once installed. Also have check valve which is the same that is used on a water well pump.
