As long as the water pump seal is still in it.

Yes the lower was just rebuilt. I have to fix the bondo for the cone. Didn't think it would leak but I wasnt sure if there is any gears or shift mech that can fall out of place if turned over.

Be careful you don't pull on the shift shaft. It should'nt fall out if the shift shaft seal is there but, I wouldn't pull on it. You should be fine.

Thanks I have a 25" mid laying around and I'm gonna use that as a stand so I can repair the bondo.

dont use bondo. get an epoxy filler. bondo has talc in it and swells in water.

Your saying do not use automotive bondo? I thought thats what everyone uses. I do have a big can of MarineTex.

NO BONDO, use only an epoxy filler as stated by hsbob. The Marine Tex will work but it doesn't sand real well, or as good as others, unless you let it cure for days (3-4), it wants to load-up the paper. Use PC-7 or PC-11, both are available at any good hardware etc., this stuff cures in about 1/2 the time, sands better and is super durable.
