i bought a 95 stv the other day with no motor ,its pretty much new and with 4 colors (merc colors) . so now i have to purchase a motor for it but need some help . it had a 2.5 efi on it which pretty much peeled your face off at wide open throttle . me, personally , dont need to go that fast but would like to see 90 , can anyone give me info on which merc motor i might take a look at ? i wont be towing anyone , but basically just cruising up and down the local rivers here . thanks in advance !!!!!! opps i forgot to mention its a euro ski

You can e-mail him through the board or look at the outboards for sale. I had a 200 xri with the exhaust relieved and would run 101 in Fla and 103 here IN B R .Very clean and his is bone stock.

I would consider looking at the Merc 225X if you do not want a 2.5 260 or 280. I think you could call it a "civilized" bad boy!

have any idea how fast it would be with the 22x ? that was one of the motors i was lookin at, that and the 200 classic. i got some info the the 200 would only get me into the low 80's though

That 225X would surprise me if did not do 90-95 on your STV with the right wheel. 200 will probably put you in the 85 range with a good set up.

You have to have the dealer install it to get the best price, so you might want to go to somebody near where you live. Where do you live?

im in newhampshire and there is NO deals here at all, i may take the small drive to canada to save some cash though.......
