Yes, two part polyurethanes will brush on quite nicely. Check out www.westmarine.com in the boat care section and you will see a huge selection. Take a look around and you will see there are also a lot of other options but for the money the 2 part poly's can't be beat.

Are you just trying to paint your transom? Is your boat painted or geled? will you be trying to match colors?

I'm having my transon fixxed on my 20' mate
the boat is orange and silver metel flake.
So i was thinking of a silver for the transom.
But need to save a few bucks so i would like
to paint myself.

I repaired a portion of my transom that had cracked under an aluminum transom brace. While the brace covered the repair, I wanted to put some paint over it for protection. I used a one-step epoxy paint by Interlux that I rolled on with a small roller. It laid down very well and is holding up quite well. It's a little pricey--about $23.00 a quart, but well worth it. I used the same paint on my trailer. Purchased it at Boat US.

can roll gelcoat, then "tip it" with a good brush, results may surprise you.
