One interesting fact I have noticed.... there is a large number of people in the US who use older boats with new motors.... While in Australia its the other way around ie: new boats, older motors.
I guess its like the toilet flush, which direction does it flow :D

I have both an old boat and an old motor(1968)...I don't really like the new curve fairy boats all that much...and I don't think they are worth what they want for them. In fact, I really like clinker hulls!

Andrew can you tell us what a "curve fairy" and a "clinker hull" are? I am not trying to slam you in any way as I am a Tennesee hillbilly myself and some of our northern folk's dont know what the hell I'm saying at time's. I just want to know if I have a fairy or a clinker.

I think "clinker" built is the older wood construction commonly called "lap strake" where they over lap the edges of narrow strips of wood running the length of the hull.
Kinda looks like siding on a house.
Now on the "Fairy" boat, I've got an opinion but I think i'll wait on Andrew:D
I wonder if we're harder on our motors here so they never make it to be old motors??
Thats what I do any how.

Curve fairies are responsible for all these new boats with all these warm and fuzzy rounded side decks you can't walk on, windows that cost thousands of dollars to replace and other weird looking styling! You can have nice curves on a boat, like the nice reverse sheer on a Cigarette, but compound curves just look funny. Like those larger Sea Rays or Bayliners.
Yeah, clinker is what you guys call lapstrake, used to be a big thing over here on ski boats in the 70's. Also on pretty much all the offshore runabouts as well...I think moulding the clinker into the hull stiffens it a lot, and it just looks much more boat like.
I'm not bagging any particular style of boat, just my opinion of what looks cool! Remember, you can have an ugly fast boat, but a nice curvy looking slow boat sucks! Fast is cool no matter what it is.
Attached is a photo of one of my previous boats..would stil have it if it wasn't stolen. Had twin 115 Mercs, used to go pretty hard. Never had those engines let me down either. Start first go hot or cold...inlines forever!

Curve Fairies, I love it!
Can I use it??
Knew thats what you meant, just wanted to hear/read you say/write it!!
Hillarious!!
I have to agree too.
Not much of a fan of the curved decks, w/non functional windows and hatches.
Hell we can't even pick on Austrailia since Mr. Warby is from there!!:D

Ken,
Not to get off the subject here, but I would like to be an Amigo. Balzy, T-Man, and Mr. Gimlet have not inducted me yet. Can you help me out?

what you are asking here !!!!!!!!!!!! It is not only an honor but a privlage to be an Amigo. Not that you don't deserve it, it's just that one of the current Amigos has to step down or pass on for another to come in. The likelyhood of one stepping down is about the same as you getting your boat in the water. So you can see that's not something that will ever happed soon. Now if one dies you might have a chance. Wait, let me think a minute.............................................................................................. ............................................................. There is one more way. Ken got in because ghe is the fastest man on water. Now if you can get your boat in the water and do better than 317.6 MPH, you too could become a charter Amigo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See there still is hope for ya.:D :D :D
Until then I would go for the Yobbo stuff.

Ken , soooooooooooo, if its 800 HP's we know it's not an O/B which diss- qualifies you from the Rumble since it's an all O/B event:eek:
Butttttt, I know the guy putting this thing on and he has some pull.
Annnndddddd it will take more than 800 HP's of car mohhhhhhhtttttaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrr to catch our O/B's anyhow :D
Greg, so you know.
In Australina, "Yabbo" means "my bitch for the weekend, and or I am gay"!!

P.S. 2 months and counting!
