I got this from one of the jetboat sites. Make sure you smoke the jets if the cameras are on or this may happen to you!

Looks like he was just screwing with the jetboat to me.

That title just cracks me up!:D
Sounded like the jet lost a hole at the end. Let's see 'em race for 5 miles.....LOL!

I was thinking the same thing. With the setup on that jetboat, he probably had a top speed of 75-80 mph. I will bet that Mirage style outboard boat would run over 100. He was just waiting to finish the turn to open it up.
I get the same thing at the lake I go to. These guys sneak up on me when I am cruising and I have to run them down to pass them. There are hundreds of sand dune islands out there and I have to beat the jets before we run out of room. Sucks when I have the top end prop on, not too much trouble with the ski prop . :D

Hopefully I will get a chance to spank a few jets next weekend at the bracket races in St. Louis, the Ally is running good and I'll be ready

I agree, that Jet was cranking the hell out of all it had, I like the sound, but yea, All Noise....... Definatly sounded like he lost a Jug at the end of the vid, is that why the Jet Loving guy that posted it on the net ended it there?????? Hmmmmm Lets see the rest of the video, where it shows the outboard cranking it up Hours later, and the Jet is being towed in with a blown up noise maker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"I'm on the outside" as if making a tighter turn doesn't scrub off more speed than a big loopy; as if they were running a circle and the OB ran the inner lane advantage. What a bunch of dinks.

The O/B was just starting to give that guy a very bad feeling of what a 105mph boat can do to a 80 mph boat!!! I have a friend like that, evey time we raced and i started to fly by him he would let off!! But i guess this guy blew up!! SORRY YOU LOSE!:D

Why don't you bring your 100+ mph Wacka out to play? Infact, there are some scary fast OB running at the river, and they had there fun with my little BBC, but that was not one of them. Explain, how I beat that boat if he runs 100 mph and as you say, "A Jet that runs 80"? Use your brain man! All of that smoke maken ya think stupidly. As far as the turn goes, well shouldn't a prop turn better than a Jet anyway's? And another DOH, is, the inside lane is the shortest distance. Have you ever hear of racers fighting for the outside lane, very rarely I'd say. My engine is running just fine thank you, it's called a 1/4 mile race. That run was more like a 1/2 mile (over 15 seconds), how much track to you small prop guy's need anyway? FYI, if you would have seen more video, you would have seen an even sharper right hand turn, more excuses........ It was a small victory for me, but none the less, he did not have a chance, or maybe he was out of N20?

As far as I remember, the fellow, Mike stated that he was "Not much over 500HP" or something like that.
Okay, let me figure this out...
500 HP vs. about 250 HP
454 + V8 Cubes vs. 153 V6
Let's run a 500 HP outboard against that 500 HP Jet and see what happens. Better yet, let's put a little V6 in front of the jet pump and race it again.
;)
On a serious note, welcome to our forums. ALL boating is cool here. Enjoy the forums.

hehehe, Hey man, it's all good, the boat does sound great screaming, but will for now I stick with the clamp on's... Everyones getting SOO terribley defensive here, some got that way because whoever started that post in the other site made it sound like the Lil' sixxer O/B lost his ass! Though I believe it's all in good fun, I hope.. Hey, everyone, KEEP THEM SPUD-SCUDS put away for now, alright?!?!?!?! hahaha
Thats pretty good that ya could run with him, who knows how much he was into it and all, wasn't there... lol
What does the Jet do on top then?? Just curious.... have any more video of her?!?!?!?!?! We promiss not to dig at ya too much more! Take it easy man,

Actually, I was trying to figure out what kind of race that was. 1/4 Mile Crescent???? New to me, but I'll try it. It did look to me like the "squirt gun" got him in the 1/4, if that's how far they were racing. If the O/B guy is gonna pick on a good runnin jet, he'd better prop for it in a short race.

If That OB was using N20 maybe it was leaking a bit, and you inhaled some:
Physiological Effects
When inhaled, nitrous produces a variety of physical effects including:
Disorientation
Fixated vision
Throbbing or pulsating auditory hallucinations
Similarly pulsating visual hallucinations
Increased pain threshold
Deeper mental connections
Physiological effects last approximately a minute for a lungful of nitrous and then mainly dissipate. Some residual effects may last up to several minutes later. Nitrous gas permeates the lipid membranes and produces an anaesthetic effect. Long term or heavy use can have unpleasant effects.:D :D

I gotta be honest, I don't think theres a neater looking sight than a big ol V8 stickin otta' the back of a slim boat! And to have one of them squirters stop by here and stir the pot w/ some good natured ribbin' has sure made for some fun reading! Glad ya came by! Stick around! But like MTCM said, we jus gotta' give ya little sh..!

Sorry Flatoutpaced and Blown509Liberator,
I was just having a little fun with you guys. I used to have a couple jetboats and still like them. Most of my freinds have jets and we like to rib each other a lot. There are ways to make them run. Read, BIG hp, superchargers, nitrous, big cubic inches, race gas. Blow them up and do it again.
I just rode in a jet a couple of weeks ago. I navigated for the winning unlimited boat in the whitewater jetboat race in Marysville California. The boat was a Kwik Kiwi aluminum hull with a wipple supercharged fuel injected 502. We were only running 85-90 mph up the rapids. The fast boat was running over 115, but he broke and gave the win to us. You want extreme boating, try running your jet up the rapids at top speed!
The whitewater boats are coming up with some cool ways to go faster. Gear reduction boxes, long conical droop snoots, race nozzles with no reverse buckets, gimbals at the split bowl instead of diverters to adjust trim. Tunnels, tunnel extensions, wings, all kinds of cool stuff.
Still like the jets, like the sound, like the look, just don't like working on them! I will bring my weedwacker down to Havasu to hang out with Barney later this summer if you still want to run.

"Power, don,t tie an Outboard transom to transom with the Jet"
This is correct! As stated many times before, every propulsion system has its advantages and dis's.
Funny, what really erked me most was this funny quote
"skydog - The O/B was just starting to give that guy a very bad feeling of what a 105mph boat can do to a 80 mph boat!!! "
It's usually the fella's that are running 80 mph that throw out 100 mph every other sentence!!!

I can't do a hundred, and many others can't, but like ya said, they toss it in like thy can, like it's no big deal! They don't realize how fast that is in a boat, ans a small boat at that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh well....
Hmmm, transom to Transom boat pulls, has that ever been done? That'd be kinda fun, but that Jets gonna get the upper had when he sinks the Clamp On faster, and drags it away! We'd have to promiss to keep the roosters down!
I have tried about everything else with 'Pulling', motercycles,(Harley Vs Japbike) I lost on the rocket, not enough wieght or torque...
Atv's, snowmobiles, TRUCKS (thats common when I drive Chevy and my buddie has a Ford!) hahaha....
Well, I wanna see pick of a pull off!!!!!! That'd be great, hell let me know when, I will get a fvideo of it and post it! Hell yea!:D

Wish it would of ran about 5 more seconds, but...still cool,
I want to see some rooster videos if ya know where some are, the kind where the wash a bridge down when a convertible is coming across, Drenching a crowd of people, It would be too coll to see about 8 jet boats next to each other, in front of a seawall lined with people, have em all blast at once, The waterfall would effect on video would be PRICELESS.
So next time your out, round up a few friends and shoot some AMericas funniest jet boat washing videos"
