Just wondering if you had any more pics of the work you did on the exhaust side of that 2.6 ?

Yes the 2.6 buildup is still ongoing :)
I decided to pass on the even fire crank and lightweight flywheel and keep the motor under 6200rpm.
Since it will be under 6200, no need for the f-ports or boost/puffer ports. No mods to the pistons tops other than a thermal barrier coating.
Country Marine (Danny&Mike Agnew) have the pistons/rods now and are going to lighten/balance the pistons and polish the rods, then off for the thermal coating.
No other hard mods planned for the moment. The exhaust is staying the same as the last pics I posted. Do you need more/better pics?

Passed on them?
Where were you able to find a Crank and for how much?

Three of them, I think a couple were complete powerheads. A guy on this board "MTS1" I think. I'll forward you the e-mail.

I have the pics that you posted hanging above my work bench.
I am headed in the same direction that you were/are on this old 235.
What I was really looking for is to see if you had done any work to the exhaust plate to improve air flow.
I see you have done some pretty aggressive grinding to the # 2 and 5 areas of the exhaust but could not see what had been done to the rest of them.
I'll try and get some pic's posted later this weekend showing what I have done to mine and we'll compare notes.
Thanks

Cool, it will be interesting. My dig camer is at the factory being repaired (got it wet at Palatka), so I won't be able to post for a few more weeks.
My mods to the exhaust were mild. Mostly to the filler blocks on cylinders 3 & 4 (middle). There was no way to open up the filler block for those cylinders without thinning it (risking warpage) so I changed the outlet shape with that V cut to give more area. It won't effect the direction that much and gave a lot more area to those outlets.
Other than that, I just smoothed out the others on the exhaust side (matched the filler block to the block). I also matched the chest to the filler blocks in the corners and the gasket will need matched but I havn't done that yet.
I'm looking for a solid 250hp on pump gas with 125-130 psi compression and durability to run WOT for long periods of time (under 6200 rpm). I think it'll work great. I'll have plastic reeds, open exhaust and no air box as well. I'm hoping to get into the high 90's with this on the Sterling. Maybe break 100 with some tuning :D

They are on a powerhead at a friends house,it came off my houseboat.He's been wanting me to come pick it up so I'll get it this weekend and make sure they didn't get robbed or something.
They are blue anodized or powdercoated and have the cable connects on the bottom set.I'll get back as soon as I get it.

The prefered head is 1980 2.6 #325638,9 That head has a very distinctive chamber shape. You can see the pics in the thread I posted below.
An alternative is the 1981 235 #327124,5 That is more of an "open" type chamber.
The bath tub heads I currently have that give 99psi are #328326,7 Supposedly the "open" type chamber but .030 deeper than the '81 heads above.
Here's the thread that discussed all of of this;

Thanks for looking Racemore :)

PS If you find any 2.5 heads with these #s, let me know. They would take a little work to get the bigger 2.6 pistons to clear but would be better than 2.6 heads. I'd rather not get into more work but if you have them, I'll think about it.
2.5 heads;
'78-80 200hp 2.5 #323872,3 or #325556,7
CCC :D #322328,9

PS This is a shot of Barry Strawn's head. It was milled .030

Bad, '83 and later 2.6 #328326,7 These are the ones that came on my 1984 2.6XP. I'm not sure if they are original but it only had 99psi.

I wonder if those bath tub heads are stock on my '84 XP?
Maybe OMC was hearing about all the piston failures of the aging crossflow design and decided to open up the chambers?
I striped all the paint off all the parts and the heads had several layers as if they may have come off a different motor. One layer may have been white but that don't say whether it was standard 235 or GT/XP.
You guys have any ideas?
