View Full Version : BRP dealer question
When I bought my 21 whaler I was told the 150 rude on the back had a new powerhead on it that was replaced under warranty. I didn't let that influence the price or the fact I bought the boat though. I was curious if I give a BRP dealer the serial # to the motor, can they check that fact the seller claimed? Anyone here be able to do it?

Any BRP dealer can run the serial number and give you a total history record of warranty repairs on it. If you post on the Evrinrude forum on BBC (yes, I don't like to promote other sites, but they have a good E-rude forum), give them the model and serial numbers, the mods there have the ability to run the numbers and give you a complete history report as well...;)

Engine was purchased may of 1997 and has no warranty claim history on the dealer site.
Thanks man.well there goes that "under 100 hours on the powerhead" line i thought it was a 1999 motor too, DOH!

300xs on a old style 21 whaler would be different :D

maybe it was rebuilt under 100hrs ago?
he told me it was replaced under warranty by OMC/BRP, but who knows? I have had the thing for over 2 years now and it hasn't so much as hit the water yet. I'll run it till it blows regardless. I'd throw a merc on it now but I have a omc kicker motor too and all the rigging controls etc for the twin omc setup. I wouldn't mind a 250-300 V8 though :D
