I have been running an OMC 2.6 for years, it's a pretty stout little motor, always ran cleaver props since day 1 with a 5" offset on a Viking YT. I put a 10" plate on it and decided to try a new 29 SRX, made quite a few passes and kept going up with the plate until it was topped out, picked up speed and rpm's each time, had 2 bolt holes that I could still go up with the motor because I could still trim all the way out and had 20 lbs of water pressure, decided to run back to the shop and raise the motor before dark, went about a hundred yards and sounded like the motor hit neutral, raised the motor and saw my new prop and propshaft was gone. I always thought a cleaver put more stress on a propshaft than a round ear, odd that the first time I try out an SRX my propshaft snaps, any ideas (besides telling me to buy a Merc) I liked the SRX so far but I want to try to avoid this from happening again. Any ideas?
