I heard a rumor that you need to get 10 hrs on an opti before it will give ya the last couple hundred rpm on top.
Owner's manuals say 4 hrs and don't mention anything about reduced rpm in break-in. I remember the HiPo engs holding back to 6 grand until the ecu cut it loose but production optis doing this? Anybody know?

The Opti will rev to the limit right away. I try to take it easy for an hour or two. The puter will double oil the motor for 4 hours. Ten hours is just what some guys say based on high perf motors, but it's not necessary. Double oil may hurt performance a little, but I've noticed no change. My fastest run on a 21 Liberator with a single, EVER, was on a 300xs motor with 45 minutes on it.

I"ve had a few xs opti's and never a breakin problem as far as time goes but my 280 os took 14 hours to get 120min off the clock. AND IT WAS WORTH IT!!! ITS AWESOME. Mind you at the time it was frustrating as hell.
