You have a jackplate and water pressure guage?

Take the motors off and get a couple Johnson / Evinrude crossflow 115"s with 21" props. You'll get 50+ out of them

Forget the V4s. TOO heavy. We had a local class at the drags at Plymouth NC a few years ago where a couple of local kids had 15 Whalers with a 90 Yam and a 70 (90?) Merc running in the low 60s!! Both running jacking plates and Yam drag props. Too cool! Its a great hull with the right steering and set-up.

Those must have been some heavily modfied yams and Mercs, would love to see some pics or vids of them running

Have a friend in Stuart, Fla running an 88SPL on his 15 Whaler, getting high 40's almost 50. The boat litterally launches out of the water. Definately not too heavy.

I can get my 15 Whaler Mischief to 50/51 with my 2005 Merc 90 carb motor, but thats no jackplate. I'd like to see how I could get another 10+ mph with the addition of that and a prop :D

that cut like a knife :D

I'd say for the 70 omc bolted as high as you can go on the transom a 19-21" sst would be a good place to start. I think I remember "runpasthefence' saying he ran a 19" yam std SS prop on his 15 whaler/90 yam combo.

Low 60's? I ran an 82 sport with a 140 Rude way back. It was a chine walking night mare at mid 50's.
No matter what we did with it that round bottom rear showed us who was boss. Did jump right out of the water thou.
End result was it tore the boat apart, hull delaminated.
