OK you guys with Creekmate experiance.....let's have it.
What's it gonna take to break 70 & up w/ a 21' Starflight?
1300# V hull/ 10" elect Jack/ fresh '89 2.4 stock with single piece G-force tuner, stock LU (strongly advised not to cone), running 65-67 mph @ 6200 rpm with 25P Laser II.
So far I've been sternly warned not to cone or try to surface a chopper due to the weight. I am heeding this advise.
Now I need feedback on set up?
I don't know diddly about sub-surface props, modifying the water PUs w/o a Bob's cone?

I've got a set of 4 petal rubber coated reedblocks........I was going to put them in my Vector...... A respectable source on the board posted they flow better than the stock 5 Petal. If I add carbon fiber reeds and/ or two stage reeds will this help?

I want to send a second set of heads out to JSRE to be cc'd to run 140 lbs will I make any gains there? I also heard it's not good to run high comp# with a heavy hull.......is 1300lbs
too heavy to bump the compression to 140#?

I guess the only bolt on mod left is Velocity stacks?

I'm not gonna start grinding on the exhaust as I'm not comfortable in that area.......yet.

Basically I need advice on how to get this barge movin' at optimum speed with what I got....'till somebody feels bad enough for me watchin' me eatin' BL's rooster tail & sells me an affordable 2.5/ 260.

Any & all input appreciated.........

Oh yea, I know nothing about non-surfacing props.......help!!!

Nothing like a helping hand from the competetion right! :D

You're right on the compression, heavier boat, more load. Better have really good gas or come down on the timing to compensate. I wouldn't go to wild on the compression, it won't last.

You know what that boat needs!?! CUBIC INCHES (under the cowl that is, is has enough elsewhere). Even then, without a pad, it could be a handfull over 70 if not uncontrollable. Tabs might give you something to balance on, kinda like training wheels. They worked great for just that on the Lund.

Might want to consider putting a pad in, but I know how much you love fiberglass work :D

How high can I go on the compression if I run 93 octane with this hull with some margin of reliability?

I shootin for 125-135psi on my XP that I'm building, and that powerhead is going on the Sterling (light). A crossflow is more sensitive though. I'll be getting the piston tops coated as added insurance as well.

It's more of a Merc question

No matter what anyone tells you you will go the fasterst with a Raker done by DAH. If you can't find one get a Tempest. You wpon't be a ble to run a Chopper high enough to get the lift and turn the RPM's.

Who or what is DAH? And What exactly is a Raker??? There is a Raker for sale in the Prop forum.....a 30P I believe. Probably too much wheel for that motor....... I was thinkin' 27 ish?

John Janaky @ DAH Pro-Pellers 262-534-4440, Burlington, Wisconsin

John seems to be THE guru when it comes to props.

PS-
Oh yeah... A raker is an OMC 3 blade thru hub exhaust with the blades kinda laid back more than SST (rebular stainless). Good bow lifter. Can be blow-out prone from a dead start in high pitch models. It lifted the stern on my Lund enough to uncover the water pickup. A lot of guys play with ventilating them so they spool up like an over/thru hub prop.

How much of an increase in speed/rpm have you seen with DAH Rakers?I let Bronson rework one and it sucked,Bad.They made good and we both lost on the deal:rolleyes: I am only seeing 1.5 MPH between a stock Raker and a DAH SRX!I would love to have my holeshot back,The 28 Raker feels good after the 29SRX.The 26 Raker feels like a drag prop after the DAH.See Ya Dave

Liqui-Fly is right lose the lazer it dosent have enough blade area for that boat. 26 raker,25-26 tempest and 25 trophy in that order would be my pics. Send to prop shop of your choice to thin and tune to your boat.
