300 Etec

I spoke with a dealer this weekend that said it was to be released soon. Is this for real or BS? I'd be interested for sure if they'd give it some more RPM's, a taller gear, and a good BRP version of a Sportmaster.

I was just reading another post about the Etec 250HO. I wonder if that's the engine he was referring to and not an actual 300hp?

The 250 HO will be released first, followed by the 300. Rumor has it that the 250 HO puts out identical power that the Merc 250 Pro XS does, 272 at the prop shaft. The E-tec 300 is supposed to be for offshore use, and come in only 25" shafts but that has yet to be verified. The 300 may also only be 2 star emissions compliant.

Look for the 250 HO's to start shipping to dealers in late Fall.

Come on LAKER whats the ??? motor!!! 400hp V8 maybe... looks a bit taller than the 350HO and whats that prop an the 350HO looks to be a new chopper. I work at a Evinrude dealership and i didnt even know these motors were on the drawin boards.

You guys should read the "250 ho destroying the comp' in Australia" thread. Lots of good reading and they have been released here for about 4 months now and they are finding there way onto the transoms of some of the quickest ski race boats in the country. Already breaking records in the long distance Ski racing river races. Many a merc die hard has made the switch and many more are talkin about it.

I reckon by June there will be more smoc ski race boats with etecs than with mercs, this time last year you were lucky to find an etec on a ski race boat.

There were seveval boats rigged with the 250HO's at the Houston boat show and are ready for the publics consumption! The 300 is only available in 30" shaft lengths and is specifically aimed at the offshore boats. They are supposed to be released here in the states around mid summer.

The 300 E-TEC should be shipping next week. Dealers received pricing on them today and they will be available in 25" and 30" shaft lengths.

yup, Seahorse is right we got the memo yesterday from BRP... does anyone know about the new gearcase that they are putting on the 300 its called the SLE Magnum gearcase.

I don't have them handy, but there are the Brazil boat show images posted on S & F earlier with closeups of the extra cooling inlets in the nose of the gearcase.

yea i found the thread Seahorse is takin bout' (the new gearcase). pretty cool to see that Evinrude not messin around any more there gettin back up to the top like the old days with there large production outboards.
