A past post mentioned a stress study. It said the highest stress a transom sees is while trailering. A pulse load. Even high powered launching of the boat on plane didn't approach it.
Hit a bump, 400lbs jumps up then jumps down. If you have a setback multiply the leverage arm.

The article about transom savers stated that a 225 hp motor with 12" of setback hitting a 2" pothole at 60 mph = 1160 #'s of force applied to the transom surface.
In the water a 225 hp 20" shaft with 12" of setback applies 5221 #'s of force to the transom surface.
I've never used a totor and have never had a problem. I used my tilt lock all through the years but am now using this duel PVC thingy I made.

The reentry stress my Mirage sees is hard to believe for that type of boat. Ask Parker I fly and have NO stress cracks.
