www.mercurypartsexpress.com (http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com) put in the proper #'s and see if they tell you. Look for the disc, looks like a car freeze plug with the proper numbers to enter on the Merc site.

1990 motas start with 0CXXXXXX as their serial numbas.... ya got took..... but there is good news... the 84 -90 2.4 200's were basically unchanged..

no I did not get took, it may not be a 90 model but the powerhead was complete as stated with new bearing and rings and chrome look new all for 1grand

ok i wont tell ya how much I have into the 200 2.5L i have on my boat then.... lets play the WHAT IF... WHAT IF Merc made changes that drastically effected the power between 84 and 90... wouldnt ya feel that ya got took because the seller missrepresented the year of the product... regardless of the condition.. you were paying for a 17 year old engine that was refreshed... not a 23 year old engine.... if it were cars you may have a BIG problem there due to changes across model years... luckily for you there wasnt any drastic changes made to the actual power heads save for oil injection, 2piece to 1 piece heads.. and a few other MINOR differences in the actual castings of the block... (few bosses here and there for mounting) so all is OK untill resale time comes along... that SN hurts your value... by about 50%... a newly rebuilt later 2.4 brings about double what an early one does on the open market simply due to the SN and model year... on here it really doesnt matter because we all know that they are basically the same and everything interchanges on them for the most part.... just a few things to keep in mind.... glad your happy... but you didnt get what was advertised..... if indeed it was advertised as a 90 model 2.4...
