i recently purchased a 300 xs in june it has approx. 27 hrs on it.when i purchased the motor i put a 4 blade 19 offshore prop on it and it was way underpropped (6400 rpmwot) so i sent my prop off and had it repitched to a 20.when i ran it yesterday the motor was missing and stumbling out of the hole, but if i milked the throttle and played with it it would eventually pop out of the hole, but it would only turn 5000 to 5250 rpm's. iam beginning to think that their are issues with the motor versus the prop. has any one else had this problem? thanks in advance.

Make sure all spark plug wires are snapped in place.

Don't sound like anything the prop would cause!! Louis

Sounds like you have water in the fuel! Do you have any warning alarms going off???

no, i just changed my primary filter in the hull (donzi 23zf) for the first time since i purchased the boat new (august 06)and it was full of metal filings but no sign of water. my boat has smart craft gauges and the speedometer was not working either. do you think that their might be some connection? thanks in advance

Just something you should check: make sure your ground is solid and that your batt. is good. We had this problem on verados idling like ***** and it had to do with a bad battery. I don't remember if this was just a verado thing or if it was smartcraft... aleast its a easy, free thing to try.
